The Equaliser

Post by white man »

It never really occurred to me before reading Martin Poppoff's book that the dub section of the song precedes the actual song itself.
Never realised it :meh:
Proper man invents wheel moment for me nearly 40 years later
Perhaps someone(Marky) could put the beginning to the end in a conventional style just to see how it would have sounded.

I was speaking with Matedog about this very thing on Facebook a few months back. The song kind of restarts itself about 1:39 in.

It's here without the dub at the start...

I had that same experience about 15 years ago. Someone mentioned it started with the dub and my mind popped.

Have you been voting in the survivor poll? It did quite well, I've a lot of time for it myself.

I really can't put my finger on why I love this song the way I do.

Yeah, but what makes it so awesome? It just is but can't explain it. Maybe The Equaliser just doesn't need an explanation.

Yeah, it's not really a typical Clash song that I would usually love but something does it for me.

I prefer it the way it is with the dub at the start. The song builds up nicely. That alledged unreleased promo version sounds to jarring.

Yes, I think it could be phoney, but that is how The Equaliser would sound without the dub. That portion is definitely tagged on on the Sandinista version.
