Re: The Only Band That Matters CD
It looks interesting. If I squint at the photo looks like 4 live shows: Palladium 1979, Capitol Theatre 1980, Nakano 1982, US Festival 1983. Packaging looks nice for an unofficial release, but I'd be very curious about the sound. There are decent versions of all 4 shows already out there - so are these just straight lifts from existing sources?

A 2019 release date. Could be someone lifting Marky's work?WestwayKid wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 9:10amIt looks interesting. I was actually wondering about that. According to discogs - it's being released by a label called "Coda Records" and their other releases have been along similar lines: collecting radio broadcasts (bands like Queen, Black Sabbath, U2, Deep Purple). Artwork on this set looks like it was done by Ray Lowry - who has been dead for at least a decade. I wonder if the illustrations were used with permission.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 9:23amA 2019 release date. Unless we have a sample to test, we can't know for sure, but I really wouldn't be surprised if someone is trying to profit off of Marky's selflessness.WestwayKid wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 9:35amI was actually wondering about that. Ah, good to know that Marky isn't getting abused. By someone other than us, anyway.

Still something to watch out for, I could see it happening.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 1:02pmAh, good to know that Marky isn't getting abused. By someone other than us, anyway.

It's inevitable. The quality of the overall package is way too tempting.Kory wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 1:38pmStill something to watch out for, I could see it happening.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 1:02pmAh, good to know that Marky isn't getting abused. By someone other than us, anyway.

We must set up some kind of password system for Marky files. They must remain free for the people.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 1:42pmIt's inevitable. Re: The Only Band That Matters CD
There are some reviews of it on Amazon. Sounds like not great sound quality as some have commented that boots already out there are better.

Re: The Only Band That Matters CD
I bought it a couple months ago, very happy with it. Got it new from the UK for $25 US, excellent VFM I reckon.
Disc 1 - Palladium, NYC, 1979: Most of Joe's between-song banter is edited out; low end seems boosted, generally compressed, but it seems to toughen up the sound.
Disc 2 - Capitol Theater, New Jersey, 1980: Didn't have this, only saw the video of the show on YouTube, so can't compare the sound. Really love the show.
Disc 3 - Sun Plaza, Tokyo, 1982: Big improvement over the DVD sound, which is almost unbearabley bright, and Paul's bass very brittle in the mix and Joe's guitar super loud and trebley. The compression really helps to bind it together.
Disc 4 - Us Festival, 1983: No "London Calling/Radio Clash" drop-out intro, starts with "Somebody Got Murdered". Again, the compression seems to boost the sound and make it more compact, especially the mids and low end.
