I think the March dates are for the first takes early versions.

The record label states June. So it's fair to assume they went back and reworked the tracks. You can clearly hear extra instruments in the final mixes.
SBMC has all the songs from the Marquee sessions as being recorded in March, except 1-2 Crush On You, which they have down as March and "possibly June."
Yeah I think the "June" date is just plain wrong. I was just showing the label to highlight that record companies rarely have a clue.

1-2 Crush on You
Pressure Drop
The Prisoner
Clash City Rockers

Had all been recorded in late October/early November '77.

Then the March '78 Marquee session.
(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais (RAR version) Though I think the later version recorded at Basing Street Studio used the same backing track.
The Prisoner
Pressure Drop
Time Is Tight

I think "The Prisoner", "Pressure Drop" and "1-2 Crush on You" were the same late '77 takes with overdubs/mixing done in March for their respective B-side takes.

"Time Is Tight" was later remixed at Wessex Sound Studio in August '79.
Where do you get the info for the late 77 studio session? Was it when the did CCR?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Yes when they recorded "Clash City Rockers" at Whitfield. Mickey Foote famously vari-speeded the master while the band were on the "Get Out of Control" tour.

The book states an early take of "Pressure Drop" "The Prisoner" and an embryonic "(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais" were also recorded at the two sessions with Lee "Scratch" Perry in August '77.

This adds more mystery. Maybe "Pressure Drop" and "The Prisoner" were recorded with Lee Perry but it seems odd that we have never heard the dub mix of "Complete Control" from the same session. Surely the band kept a copy of the mix. Maybe it was these two versions that were reworked later at the Marquee sessions for the B-sides.

The book states that Lee Perry completed the dub mix. The band are said to have respected the mix but wanted a heavier punk sound for the track. So Mick and Mickey remixed it for the single release.

Matedog you can add Steve Nieve : keyboards to the list of studio musicians on "City of the Dead".

I wish I could remember where I saw it in print that Norman played on CDS.

"Look Here"
"The Call Up"
"Hitsville U.K."
"Charlie Don't Surf"
"Stop the World"

"Lose This Skin"

He didn't go to Jamaica, Channel One. It was a member from the Roots Radics (previously The Revolutionaries and Channel One Stars) Channel One's session band that Mikey used as a backing band on his World War III album. Don't know the guys name though.

And stop calling me Shirley!

With Tymon just brought up, something I've been curious about recently. Who does the high backing vocals on "The Sound of the Sinnners" ? During the choruses, there's the vocal going along with Joe that certainly doesn't sound like Mick to my ears at least. I've at this point guessed it's either some studio musician who didn't get the credit, or it's Tymon's voice. I've been more inclined to think it's Tymon because it seems to fit a bit more to how he sings.
