I find Exile mostly boring. A few good tracks but undeserving of its status.
Word. The highs are high, but a lot of it is just sort of “there.”
Yes it really is a 50/50 record for me.

I genuinely don’t understand the Stones’ reputation as an album band. Most of their deep cuts don’t do it for me, but the singles for the most part were solid for most of their first 15 years.

I go on a Jam Facebook group and somebody offered up Sandinista for appraisal yesterday. I was expecting it to get a bit of a kicking but most people were positive about it. A lot said it left them bemused at the time but have come to recognise its quality later on.

It definitely had to grow on me. I love it now, but only CTC made a worse first impression.

I've always understood how people feel about this album. I had Sandinista! when I was studying at tech college and I would play it over and over so all those songs are etched in my brain good and bad. It is definitely an album where the tracks grow and grow and that's a great testament to The Clash.

Great singles band. Yeah lots of average tracks on the albums.

I always thought sandinista was punks equivalent to the Beatles White Album, a glorious mess including a rocking opener, a Testament of total whackyness(Revolution 9/mensforth Hill) and a weirdly soothing end(good night/sheperds delight)

While i grew up with all the Beatles discography i bought and sold 3 copies of sandinista before i began to see the light. So ist is definately a grower.

But can Someone enlighten me why it is Pauls Boutique against cyh? Hello nasty is the best hands down, and it even has its own remote control.

I like that album too, but I think we're definitely in the minority.

I bought Sandinista at release. Immediately loved the obvious tracks but wasn’t sure about some in between.
Yep Took a while to fully appreciate but never the kids.

Again bought CTC on release. Loved TIE didn’t like the rest. Have tried it again snd again over the years and my view has never changed.

i remember so clearly moments of my first hearing Sandinista! My dad walking me up to Tower Records where John Zorn worked at the time and gave us his employee discount. Then, my folks were going somewhere for the night so i waited till they were gone to listen. It for sure was not what i expected, and i was actually frightened by the blast off at the end of Shepherds Delight, but definitely by the time hallucinogens found their way into my life, that album became the center of all things. from then on, anything i got into would circle me back to Sandinista! and it would then send me off to discover something new. For me, i put it outside of all other Clash albums, its just its own thing that continues to grow as long as I do.
