New to me as well. Thanks Briggy. I wonder if any footage of their set exists other than Police On My Back.
Shame Joe wasn't there instead of Kosmo.

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Thinking about it, that's probably the longest interview I've seen with Simonon.

Thanks Briggy that was great.
Interesting Kosmos comment about the amount of Sandinista recordings that haven’t seen the light of day????

That's what frustrates me about these interviews, they say something interesting about other material or something and the interviewer never says, oh really, tell us more about that?!

So many journalists have never learnt the art of the follow up question.Low Down Low wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 5:31amThat's what frustrates me about these interviews, they say something interesting about other material or something and the interviewer never says, oh really, tell us more about that?!

Too busy reading their next question off the sheet instead of listening to the answer.Silent Majority wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 5:32amSo many journalists have never learnt the art of the follow up question.Low Down Low wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 5:31amThat's what frustrates me about these interviews, they say something interesting about other material or something and the interviewer never says, oh really, tell us more about that?!

I'd guess that's true, probably a bit of an art form when it comes down to it.101Walterton wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 5:49amToo busy reading their next question off the sheet instead of listening to the answer.Silent Majority wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 5:32amSo many journalists have never learnt the art of the follow up question.Low Down Low wrote: ↑23 Apr 2020, 5:31amThat's what frustrates me about these interviews, they say something interesting about other material or something and the interviewer never says, oh really, tell us more about that?!

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
Re: Video interview w/ Simmo in Jamaica, 1982
Certainly a lot better than that one from 76 or 77 where his answers are just their song titles.
"What are your songs about?"
"Career opportunities, white riot."

Is there any other band who has someone like Kosmo pushed into the limelight as if he were a band member? Remember, he wasn't even their manager. Mick may have been in bed but why no Joe or Terry instead?
