Yeah but the general consensus in biogs etc has always been that Joe wrote it for Mick about Mick's childhood. Mick even repeats it himself in an interview I saw recently.

Yeah, there is that. I just think Joe's childhood ticks more boxes than Mick's for the song in general.
It isn’t autobiographical so no reason there isn’t a bit of Mick and Joe in there on poetic license.
