I've just finished working on another '82 show from Bristol Locarno Ballroom, August 3, 1982. If you like those shows I guarantee you will love this one. But you'll have to wait until The Clash have finished their Bond residency. ;)

Really look forward to hearing that. I was at the gig and strangely enough I found my ticket by accident earlier this evening whilst looking for something else. I've owned a cassette copy of the gig since about 1983 which I have played regularly over the years but not for a long time. That copy is good quality so a remaster will be excellent.

Thanks for the Bonds shows. Haven't found time to listen to them yet but look forward to doing so. All great stuff .

Any ideas anyone? As I’ve now got time on my hands, and inspired by Marky’s efforts on this, I dragged a box of cds/cdrs out of storage with a view to ripping them to hard drive. One of them was the “This is Radio Clash” double cd (snotty snail) of Bonds. I am aware that this is the same mix as Bondage at Bonds and Chaos in New York etc... However, there was a third unlabelled/unmarked CD-R in the case (which I obviously picked up from somewhere). Played it and it is an 18 track edited version of the same gig but with a superior mix (sounds pro mixed to me). Backing vocals right up in the mix etc... Any ideas what it is? Age is a terrible thing...
My guess is that it's the WNEW mix mistakenly dubbed Trick or Treat because it was run on radio stations on Halloween. There's at least three mixes from multi-tracks of July 9th, the official tracks on FHTE aside. Some of the original rough mix with the buried backing vocals were used for Clash on Broadway. The Snotty Snail uses the third mix, which was done for band/record company listening purposes.

Marky, I'm downloading all of these but haven't had time to listen! I afraid we may also need a new "Best of Bonds" from your hard work!

Yes I think that will be the last one I do. Snoh did one in his box set. I think it would be cool if we did another one with input from people here to see what tracks are best.

Cheers mate. This Bristol remaster is the full show finishing with Complete Control. All the other versions finish on Safe European Home.

Excellent! it just gets better and better. A little anecdote about the gig the guy Joe gets angry about for gobbing at him was a mate of mine who only went to the gig on my advice. I wasn't impressed when I saw him afterwards and he told it was him.
Spookily as I started typing this 'A few Dollars more' is on BBC2 and the gig intro music started playing. :scared:

"Sixty Seconds to What?" is excellent R I.P. Ennio.

Shame about your friend doing the "Gobbing" thing. Always a vile horrible thing for band's to cope with. Imagine the band had been playing live for 6 years by this point and putting up with this.

There's a great version of Mag 7 with a funny ad-lib from Joe about Noddy and Big Ears going to a disco in Toytown.
[/quote]

I totally agree about the gobbing. I wasn't stood with him at the gig I would have been mortified if I was. In his defence he was only 17 but still should have known better.
I recall the Mag 7 ad-lib probably assisted by having the tape. I have also always felt it was one of the highlights especially as far as the set list is concerned it wouldn't be one of my favourite songs. The gig was played during a heatwave and I remember it as being almost unbearably hot in there. Great memories.

I’ve done my lag!!

The June 2nd show sounds great Marky - if it was the same taper, they found a good spot on that night, the sound's a bit fuller with a little more bass than the others. Topper's drumming really comes through well throughout, and he's just on fire - This is Radio Clash and The Call Up are taken to another level compared to the records. And that extended drumming intro to Police & Thieves is fantastic
