As I’ve now got time on my hands, and inspired by Marky’s efforts on this, I dragged a box of cds/cdrs out of storage with a view to ripping them to hard drive. One of them was the “This is Radio Clash” double cd (snotty snail) of Bonds. I am aware that this is the same mix as Bondage at Bonds and Chaos in New York etc... However, there was a third unlabelled/unmarked CD-R in the case (which I obviously picked up from somewhere). Played it and it is an 18 track edited version of the same gig but with a superior mix (sounds pro mixed to me). Backing vocals right up in the mix etc... Any ideas what it is? Age is a terrible thing...
I think we lost the original thread when the board rebooted, but he saved TeddyB's observations in the link above. IIRC, It definitely sounds like a professional mix, above and beyond a simple recording off the board.
Whatever TeddyB posted then, it’s likely more accurate than what he recalls now! I do think though that “Bonds ‘81” and the original “Trick or Treat” are both the radio broadcast. Either way, not just a soundboard. All are mixes from the multi-tracks.

My favorite moment of all the Bonds tapes. A poor choice I think to use Mag7 from Boston instead, but there were political reasons (with a small p).Marky Dread wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 1:08pmDon't forget to thank Mr. Tibbs (Sidney Poitier) or should that be "it's Potter!" - Grandad.

The guy is Rob Sharrock. I used to converse with him back in the early noughties. He had one of the first Clash Bootleg websites and it was as vital BMC is now. Really surprised it is still going as it disappeared for a while. Good guy.Marky Dread wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 3:36pmI think the Talking Heads back catalogue were reissued as double CD/DVD editions. I suspect the "downmix" was the guy who runs that site version he did himself from the DVD.gkbill wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 1:29pmHello,
I'm always very curious to read about these shows including the bootlegs emerging for the residency. I'm still kicking myself for not going (I was living in Queens at the time) although I remember having plans to go squashed by the initial fire marshal thing - but to my point...
The Sharoma website has several good upgrades of shows. I downloaded the "downmix" (not sure what that means) of Stop Making Sense and it sounds sharper/better to my ears. I just wanted to share and thank whoever runs that site.

A nice Brucie bonus for us, thanks Marky! A shame that mix has never made it on to an official release. Would have been good if it had been on the Record Store Day one.Marky Dread wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 7:01am...put the bear down!

Thanks all. It seems to be the "Bonds 82" CD as mentioned above. No idea how I got it but there you go. Thanks again!TeddyB Not Logged In wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 2:54amInder wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 10:40amThis sounds like the mysterious "Bonds 1981" CD that Robin discovered (nearly 20 years ago!) — https://www.sharoma.com/clash/bonds_1981.htmtopperville wrote: ↑24 Jul 2020, 5:08pmAny ideas anyone? I'm just waiting for you to do the Brixton one from 30th July Marky. Must be due???Marky Dread wrote: ↑24 Jul 2020, 1:47pmI've just finished working on another '82 show from Bristol Locarno Ballroom, August 3, 1982. If you like those shows I guarantee you will love this one. But you'll have to wait until The Clash have finished their Bond residency.
