Re: Bond International Casino Remasters
Marky, did you get that wierd tape of the 9th i shared on here a few years back?
i don't have it any more , too many computer crashes
I'm certain it was a salvage attempt for the clash on broadway soundtrack
lots of dub effects , bits of it worked, but the performance still sucked
my copy cut out after cadillac
the 9th was obviously a big deal to the band, hiring film crews isn't cheap
the setlist for the 9th was a S! showcase , most songs from Sandinista! in a single show
since thats thats my favourite album i'm really bummed that it didn't come off
so i totally get why they spent time trying to clean up the audio from the 9th instead of using the 8th or 10th
can anyone share the soundboard version of capitol air from the ginsberg box?
an official release but i think i'll be able to live with myself denying revenue to the estate of a dead pederast
sorry to be "that guy"
no way is the 8th Post-Fm
but the 18 track version of the 9th definitely is
the much maligned "S.O.S" bootleg LP has some of the radio announcements left in "The Clash live on WNEW FM"
@kory the reason Bonds got such a bad rap was because back in the day all most people had was the 9th which is the weakest night
it was broadcast on FM so it got bootlegged massively.
typical lousy clash luck to have the 9th broadcast, it starts well enough but is horribly out of tune by mag 7, the encore starts great with omt-cadillac but this time they manage to thrash their instruments out of tune within 3 songs!
why they even attempted washington bullets when they were so exhausted they could barely think let alone sing.. god knows
why it was chosen for broadcast, again god only knows
why SOS chose to include it at instead of the towering monumental rendition of One More Time, an act of perverse humour?
the bootlegger called himself Yves Pox after all!
Janie Jones would have been a perfect ending to the show and the broadcast
one day we need to have a chat about the freaky photo artwork of the S.O.S boot!
but yeah basically any other gig from the Bonds residency is awesome
LOL a parody of Ginsberg just came on the radio comedy show i was listening to while i typed this "emo hoffberg"
anyway thanks for all the uploads
i'll keep checking tapes and hopefully i can reciprocate some day

Wow, I never knew any of that stuff about Ginsberg. That's really messed up. I still think Ginsberg had some interesting poems, but it seems like this is yet another case of having to "Separate the art from the artist". Like is it really that hard for so many famous people to not get involved in weird, sketchy, and/or offensive things?Marky Dread wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 5:54pmI feel it's fine to like some of his work but not his aspirations and/or certain ideals.Flex wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 5:47pmin retrospect it's not an association you'd probably go for these days, but given joe's interests (in the beat culture) it makes sense. even being suspicious of right wing propaganda to try to discredit the counter-culture, he was pretty straightforwardly a pedophile which is grotesque, obviously. America is still a great poem (and he has a few others). I've probably been all over the map on this over the years on whether the ghost of allen gets canceled in my own intake of art, but right now I land on his presence being an interesting artifact of the time. Definitely on the deeply-fucked-up end of the spectrum in terms of people whose work I'll countenance, tho.
Art and music culture are littered with people like this sadly as we find in life.

"Separate the art from the artist" it is the wisest choice. We can judge the art and personally A.Ginsberg doesn't like it.GotGameGreggy wrote: ↑03 Aug 2020, 11:38pmWow, I never knew any of that stuff about Ginsberg. That's really messed up. Re: Bond International Casino Remasters
I also think its weird how many "intellectual" artists seem to suppress this fucked up side from Ginsberg and praise him openly to this day. Dylan, Patti Smith, Sonic youth to name a few.
Especially weird as i think the awareness of misdemeanours is quite high these days. Hardly any artist would support Gary Glitter or even Morrissey?

Re: Bond International Casino Remasters
Let's all mentally replace Ginsberg's voice with Lou Reed's and praise Marky for the incredible work he's doing.

Re: Bond International Casino Remasters
Oh god not sonic youth!
You know what , i don’t need to know!
Thank you Marky
As I understand the situation
Re 9th
Mix 1. 75 minute 18 track FM and/or officially released bits = “Pro source”
(Robins cdr still best FM version)
Mix 2. Uncut version with mick too low sounds like it was a Monitor mix for Mick
Mix 3. Version i shared from 1st gen 90 mins with dub effects etc, cuts off after Cadillac
Mix 4 Version that surfaced online along with the Soundboard of 8th.
I never actually Downloaded/heard this. I assumed it was the same as my tape but there’s no reason it should be
Re: S.O.S the track list on the sleeve is wrong
Bonds takes up part of side 2 and all of Sides 3&4
It starts with London Calling and follows the usual FM track listing but missing most of the encore- only including Washington bullets
Thanks again for the uploads
I maxed out yesterday after the 8th
Downloading 9th now
I think the choice of songs for broadcast is actually quite arbitrary on commercial radio
They just hack out songs where they need a commercial break rather than picking the best bits
It’s somewhat better on The State/public broadcasters in Europe, Japan & Australia
You know what , i don’t need to know!

Thanks Marky, I haven't been able to download anything for a few days so npw have a backlog to listen to. Looking forward to it though.
