BMC says this for the evening of the 6th;"The first encore begins as usual with One More Time with an ‘atmospheric’ guitar intro start. A strong, if not again at Bonds, exceptional performance. The energy and intensity levels then peak as the band tear through three blasts of raw rock’n’roll; Brand New Cadillac, Career Opportunities and Janie Jones. The audience roar for more with The Clash’s mantra “Let them now” still ringing in their ears.

The second encore begins with Armagideon Time with Joe adlibbing “Armagideon it comes from the good book” Mick’s guitar work is inventive but it lacks again at Bonds a roots reggae feel; being too one paced. Jimmy Jazz though is always welcome as it allows the band to stretch out and Joe to adlib a plenty. Again he does not disappoint mid song adding “..all of a sudden they came and interrupted the game, said put down your pool cues and get up against that wall…now I don’t know anything about this man called Jazz, I don’t know if you can smoke him or ?..” Joe spells out J-A- Zee-Zee as Mick matches the approach with his guitar licks then the band pick it up again and Joe adds “They said that’s right Bro, you got the man we’ve been looking for all around. What are we gonna do with him.. Sattamassagana for jimmy dread, cut off his ears and chop off his head!”

“New York's Burning” screams Joe as the band launch into the now usual intense finale, ending a very enjoyable performance. The exhausted Clash at least now had their one day off at Bonds to recover!"

It says this for the 12th; "An edit takes us in to the first encore but unfortunately the sound quality dips now through to the end. The sound is more distant and murky which is a shame as the encores (are again) some of the best performances of the gig. Mick adds more and more effects on One More Time, which has several tape dropouts. There is then a great adrenalin charge through Brand New Cadillac, Career Opportunities and Janie Jones with Joe in excellent intense vocal form. There are several tape wear dropouts on Janie Jones.

The audience are very enthusiastic and after an edit the band return for a hard, heavy Armagideon Time and a strong Jimmy Jazz but unusually on this song Joe does not come up with an adlibbed section; further sign of his tiredness and lack of inspiration tonight. The concert ends though in intense style as Joe screams New York’s Burning and the band tear through a scorching finale."

It looks like Jimmy Jazz is the main differentiator.

I'm still back on the 4th at the moment, need to try to catch up!
Yeah I've read all Graham's write ups. They make great reading whilst listening. I will do a file check tomorrow to see what's what.

Listening to Jimmy Jazz from both shows, it is the same. Around 2:40 when Joe goes into the adlib "Now I don't know anything about this man called Jazz" it appears in both June 6th and 12th. I do wonder where Graham got this tape cause the one I had before Marky's remix fits the description of a sound quality dip, being distant and murky for the encores. But, the tape I have has the adlib that I quoted in the June 6th show, and the remix Marky has done, so I'm not sure why Jimmy Jazz doesn't have any adlib according to what he has.
Could it have been deliberately edited I wonder. I will do research tomorrow in this. Good detective work River. :approve:

Just got home and did a playback and yes they are definitely the same set of encores. But to which show do they belong. As I've now remastered them as did Snoh previously. I will check Snoh's box set tomorrow to see if there is anything to detect there. The problem is on some of encores from Snoh's box the encores fade in from an edit and are not a continual WAV file. I personally don't like this though I can understand why some would. I always make the file sound continuous. I add some of the cheering/crowd from the previous track to get a match on sound then mix it in. I mean that's the point of remastering really. It's fairly easy to do from one concert and noise print. Not so easy when you take stuff from various shows like on FHTE. Of course working with pro sound shows is easier than with audience recordings from various sources.
My initial guess is that they belong to the June 6th show. My few reasons being the encore makes more sense to be a little bit earlier in the residency. Career Opportunities was played during the afternoon show, as well as being played for all the shows up until June 4th. By the later shows, they had added Pressure Drop on June 8th, then played it again on June 11th, and on June 13th (evening) for the last show. So my best guess is that it was most likely played on June 12th as well, seeing as they did it both in the gig before and after. I'd also say the encores sound a little bit closer to the June 6th's sound quality than the 12th. Although, them doing Career Opportunities in the June 13th afternoon show could also throw away all of this. I also do agree with you on the continuous sound thing. I much prefer it sounding like I'm there, rather than there being fade outs, weird silence between songs, etc.
I'm with on all of this mate. I think they are definitely from the 6th. The noise print is more similar to that show than the later. I may remove those tracks from the 12th and change the artwork to suit.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Here's the ammended artwork for the 12th June 1981. With the encores removed as they are the ones from the 6th June 1981.

Cheers Marky! Thanks for all your hard work. This is quite the endeavor.

Any thoughts on the performances? I know the 13th evening show is one of the standouts and I remember the 10th being a really good one when I did a deep dive a long time ago, but I don't remember much else other than the 8th is underwhelming (save for that amazing Mag 7) and the 9th it's perfectly solid (except Washington Bullets, ugh).
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

All the shows have something but for the full performance I think that the 13th evening takes some beating. For me the tracks that really shine are Mag 7 and The Call Up. But there are great bits all over. Maybe with the help of others once people have had a chance to absorb them I could do a best of Bond.
