Sure that was posted here before. Shame he didn't learn the lyrics.
LOL i was just going to say i liked that the lyrics were clear and easy to understand in this version
i'd never have figured out a lot of what strummer was singing if not for this group, they're great lyrics and deserve to be presented properly

thanks Ikaris, that was really great, goosebump inducing in fact
i'd love to know what the audience thought

thanks for the Pete update

i need to check out vent , the thought of our favourite killbot being recorded by Steve Albini, the king of the drum sound....
The name of the band is actually Vent 414. Miles Hunt - Vocals/guitar (Wonderstuff) Morgan Nicholls - Bass (Senseless Things) Billy Duffy - Guitar (The Cult) Pete Howard - Drums (The Clash/ Eat).
I actually got their CD back in the day. It was...unmemorable.
I bought the first cd single. Didn't think much of it either.

I liked that cover of This is England, too -- nice to hear the keyboard fills in there, which is one of the major sonic elements of the song, and I think they added enough of their own touches, especially on the guitars and vocals, to make it theirs. I liked the jammy bit at the end, too. Another "coulda, woulda, shoulda" reminder of what might have been, I guess, though the original survived Bernie's "Everything and the kitchen sink" approach well enough.

Never heard Vent 414, but I did see Pete play live with Eat, which is where my interview with him took place, after the gig -- how that's for the Obscure Alt Rock Sweepstakes? I do remember hearing bits and pieces from them, but they weren't nearly as powerful as the gig, of course. As it often is.
