Looking forward to giving this a spin. The Salem is one of the roughest pubs in the North East. Last time my band played there someone had shot the windows out two days previously. A few people I know were at the Salem drinking with them but I don't recognise any of the names from Geoff's flat.

Great write-up on the website, Graham! Thanks for letting us know. Not bad sound either in the sample.

Best busking tape? Haven't got large number fans singing along and therefore everything is musically clearer. A diverse a set lit.

I wouldn't disagree. It's cool to hear some of the in between song banter too. Even has a CTC song.Blackmarketclash wrote: ↑30 Mar 2021, 8:56amBest busking tape? Haven't got large number fans singing along and therefore everything is musically clearer. A diverse a set lit.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Thanks Graham, much appreciated.

You would never see U2 or Coldplay in there, put it that way. That part of Hendon and that bar has always been a Hells Angels stronghold. That's why I will always respect them for that busking tour. They really got down and dirty.

Can't wait to listen to this, thanks for sharing. What an intriguing setlist. I always like these busking gigs.

Oh wow. Intriguing. Cotton Fields (the CCR arrangement, not so much Ledbelly) was one of my younger son’s favorite lullabies about a year ago.

Roughest pub in Sunderland at the time. The Hells Angel's HQ was adjacent

Was still rough as fuck when we played there about 15 years ago. Someone had tried to perform a hit on someone through the pub window. I think they missed but they showed us the bullet holes behind the bar.

Just read the story on BMC, amazing. The Twist and Shout/La Bamba at the end is so fun.
