Wasn't there another mystery track on that Essential Clash DVD? An instrumental that played over the chapter selection or something? I don't think we ever got to the bottom of that...

EDIT: just searched on yt and apparently Cool Confusion is the chapter selection tune. I'm almost certain there was another instrumental on it that wasn't a song we've heard though.
Yep on the menu there's another short Instrumental. I put it on the "Rat Patrol from Hell W10" comp I put together many moons ago. Just called it Hell W10.

Yes, it was a little redolent of E=MC2.
That's the one! Also to add to the mystery pile is Mick's original HW10 soundtrack.

I can't remember where I posted this, but a ton of their songs around that time seem to built around little grooves/jams

Radio Clash
RAD
Long Time Jerk
FNBiL
Casbah
Atom Tan
Straight to Hell
Ghetto Defendant
etc

How many of these even have a bridge? Casbah, sort of?

In fact, how many songs on Combat Rock have a bridge at all?

You all just love to hate things.
You've got the cut of jib, at least
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Yeah, there's none really. The middle eight in Casbah just stays in the home key.

Fulham Connection might be the only one I can think of that has a definite bridge "now the credits, they must roll through"

The outro to Inoculated City is kind of an extended bridge in a sense, but it doesn't connect back to the body of the song, so perhaps not.

Yeah, that's the bridge that U2 totally stole for "Discotheque."

This has been at the forefront of my mind for a while now. I'm hoping to incorporate this approach into my own work.

Cool Confusion is a fine song. You all just love to hate things.
I wouldn’t call it a favorite, but I never hated it like so many on here.

I think it's the best of the CR b-sides if that means anything (it does not mean much).
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Damning with faint praise indeed.

I might like Long Time Jerk more? Maybe? Not sure.
