I'm still seriously holding out for a deluxe reissue for next years anniversary.
I do so hope we get that.
Me too although now I just wonder if Mick will say “well now they finally have it, no point in an official release.”

Let’s hope this doesn’t prompt that reaction. Sony was already proposing something before news came of the auction. Mick is aware of the sale, but not necessarily aware that it’s “out there”. An official release from the tapes would of course sound better.

Hopefully cautious.

Fuck it. I'm not gonna be cautious. I'm placing all my chips on a deluxe rat patrol coming out in the next year or so. We're gonna party like it's 1982 in the parallel rat patrol dimension.

Nothing was done last year with the 35th anniversary of CtC, why should we expect anything for CR? :shifty:

It would be the ultimate cruel irony that this auctioned copy of of RP we all went nuts over, ripped from somewhat noisy vinyl at a lowly 130kbs, ends up being the reason we don't get an official release

This looks amazing. I dig the correct title with “The” and single “G”...
I agree about the single “G” but I don’t think the addition of “The” has ever come from anywhere?
Mick says "The Rat Patrol from Fort Brag with one G" in the interview at the bottom of page 14.
Apologies. I stand corrected. “The Rat Patrol From Fort Brag” it is!
Also, the 1960s TV show Mick was referencing is called The Rat Patrol, so it’s definitely that title.

Yep like "The" Desert Rats. So the single "G" is to brag they are "The" one and only.

Should've called the album "F Troop". ;)

Apart from live material there doesn't seem to be much more that they could release other than TRPFFB. Which would tie in with the desire not to release any more already available stuff. Let's hope it happens

What if Gerald is an industry/Bernie plant and his redux was part of some grand CTC scheme to honor its 35th?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

For this to be true, you need to explain why Bernie would issue a competing version of his perfect creation? That's the enduring comedy of that record—Bernie maintains that it's great.

I'll believe in alien moon bases before I believe Bernie has doubts about CtC's greatness.
