Yeah those keys/synths do it no favor. The synth steel drums or whatever on Idle also sound like trash especially when they nailed the sound on Let's Go Crazy.Silent Majority wrote: ↑26 May 2021, 8:19amI said this on twitter, but it's worth repeating here. The Fulham Connection was well ahead of its time. Unfortunately, the time it ended up representing was 1986.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Same from me. Thanks to everyone who helped on the audio!TrashCityRocker wrote: ↑03 Jun 2021, 8:25amMay be a little late, but many thanks to everyone who helped edit the original audio.
And coincidentally, I just correctly heard the closing lines of Straight to Hell for the first time after it being one of my favorite songs since I first heard it around '94 or so. "Ten mile a penny"! I always thought it was "ten dollar penny." I knew the latter made no sense, but I just figured it was Joe vibing in that broken English style spoken by the kids that the song was about. I'm especially embarrassed because I had always heard "rickshaw rides" correctly.

Re: Rat Patrol 2LP acetate
Is that what Joe sings at the end of STH? I always heard it as “and not a penny…and not a penny…do ya want…”, with "do ya want" being really faint at the very end. As in, you'll want for nothing, not even a penny. That's how I always heard and interpreted it. I guess "ten mile a penny" makes sense if he's referring to the price of the rickshaw ride (a bargain I might add), but I still hear something like "do ya want" at the very end.appleseed1 wrote: ↑07 Jun 2021, 9:54pmSame from me. And also, thanks everyone from me too. Very cool to listen to these.

Over and over, from remasters to re-recordings to remixes to sleeves, key people in this community are doing an infinitely superior job with the Clash's legacy than Sony. Badge of honour to those who do the work.
