Looking forward to listening to this, just trying to get the right conditions.
Local supermarket all out of pot noodles?
I've still got the Strummer comp to listen to. Behind, way behind.

Been listening tonight Marky, this is a brilliant comp. Thanks for your time in compiling, and the detailed notes were a great help. A lot of new stuff to me which I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy over the coming weeks.

Does anyone know the story behind Mick's involvement in Pump It Up? One of my favourite EC tracks, love this mix with the extra guitar.

"All Washed Up" by the Looters is strangely reminiscent of Blur.

Recorded in '78 as part of This Year's Model Sessions. But a different take was used on the album and the single. Which either doesn't include Mick or he is mixed really low with Steve Nieve's keyboards brought much more to the fore.

The alt mix was my own mix as Mick's guitar as usual is fucking great.

The monster mixes are pretty wild with that guitar, totally changes the vibe of the song.

Can anyone sing along with all the words to Pump It Up without referring to the lyrics? I'm currently having to learn it as my band is covering it and it's the hardest song I've ever had to learn lyrically. Even harder than Sweet Gene Vincent by Ian Dury which was rather tough.

I can. Covered it in an old band at a couple of rehearsal in prehistoric times. What parts are you struggling with. Costello does word cram a lot of phrases with similar lines and different meanings.

Funny enough I used to struggle with this line.

"You wanna torture her, you wanna talk to her"

I've more or less got it nailed mate, just stumbling on the last verse at the moment but I've got three weeks to get it sorted. Some right tongue twisters though.

I used to use this little trick with difficult lines. I wouldn't sing it until I had written it down and spoke the line over and over slowly getting faster.
