Can I be the first to thank you for this MD, I'm sure it's well worth the wait, looks a great track listing. Will give it a spin tomorrow.

Cheers

Brilliant thanks Marky. I've got that Hugh Cornwell album but hadn't realised there was a Clash link.

Cheers mate. I wanted to hear Mick more central to the mix.

Bim were a band that had a handful of singles and one album. Stephen Street who later worked with The Smiths and Morrissey was a member. Plus one of the others guys in the band was Neneh Cherry's husband. He was also a photographer who took shots for the Madness One Step Beyond album.

Me too!
Some deep research has gone into this set, Marky. Thanks for including the text file with details of the band's involvement, lots here I never knew, or knew but had forgotten !

Thanks Marky, I've been looking forward to this for a while. I never knew of Neneh Cherry's vague connection with Bim. I know the song, just didn't realise this was before her and Cameron McVey were a couple, so obviously before the both of them were involved with Stock, Aitken & Waterman. Don't go there!

Hello Marky,

Thank you too much - again! This is an interesting idea - great collection. Pump it up! is a classic but I've always really liked Theatre of the Absurd and Short Back & Sides - probably my 2nd favorite Ian Hunter album after Welcome to the Club!

Thanks again Marky. This is a lot of fun.

On topic, Elvis Costello is soon to release a reworked version of This Years Model, using the original instrumental tracks, but all re-voiced by Spanish-speaking singers, many of them big stars. Mick’s guitar is better featured in the new mixes.

Also, in Part Two of the new biography about him, Ian Hunter says they should have used the Brixton Power mix on Short Back ‘n Sides, and also that it was that Clash-inspired song that prompted him to bring Mick Jones into the studio to work on it, which led to Mick co-producing the whole shebang. He also re-confirms that an uncredited Mick wrote the chords to Central Park ‘n West.

Cheers Teddy appreciated. That EC reworking sounds an interesting project. Thanks for the info.

Brixton Power works really well in the Wessex mix. I agree it's the better version. But either way I love that album. It just grows and grows on you.

Central Park 'n' West is a gem.
