I'm mildly annoyed that nobody acknowledged my Paul/Mort connection! It's pure gold, dammit. Well, maybe bronze. But it medaled!
I still don’t get it. Is this a Canadian thing?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

The picture you posted earlier in this thread the same one I used on my new project with Paul and the bandana on his face. Just like Mort that Doc posted.

You've never had Bazooka Joe bubble gum? Bazooka Joe is as American as union busting, celebrity memoirs, and deep-fried salad.

Here's some additional details, but like Doc said, yeah, big time American nostalgia right here.

Yeah I’m familiar with Bazooka Joe gum barely. It was always some weirdly old product in my periphery while I was obsessed with new brands that had cool ads with people in neon jackets doing flips on skis:

Didn’t know BJ had some mascot but thank you Marky for holding my hand through the explanation because I clearly needed it.

You're welcome.😏

Should probably point out that your cool advert from 1989 was advertising a product that started in 1893. Juicy Fruit chewing gum is way older than Bazooka Joe bubblegum that started in 1947.

History can be a sticky subject.

Juicy Fruit: Enjoy 10 seconds of sugary flavour, then you're just chewing putty.

That's about 200% better than Fruit Stripe.

I feel privileged to have been probably the last generation that experienced chewing gum experimentation. There was Hubba Bubba, the non-stick bubble gum; Freshen-Up (aka cum gum) with the liquid centre; Big League Chew, the shredded bubble gum in a pouch. We were pioneers, really, with our decaying teeth and all …

And don't forget the Charms Blow Pops, sugary sucker with bubble gum center, great way to rot some teeth.

Heard of them, but never had them.

Here's a candy that I don't come across much, but buy lots of when I do: pop rockz. Nobody can or should pass up candy that's also kinetic.

No way, we had some wild gum in my youth: Bubble Tape (6-feet of bubblegum for you, not them!), Cinna/Minta/Fruitaburst, Bubblelicious (THE WORST in terms of flavor fall off), Fruit Stripe Gum, cotton candy Bubble Yum.
