GEER 2022

Post by Marky Dread »

So after the chat in the other thread I thought I would remix/remaster and reorder the track listing to see what might've also worked. I used the old Japanese editions to mix from.

See what you think.

I'll leave this up for a couple weeks and then when it's gone it's gone. Don't come back if you missed it.

Gone now!

Cool and thanks. Based on past discussion about GEER, I pretty much give Hoy my proxy.

I'll download this evening. I'm already very, very intrigued by the new tracklisting. Thanks Marky! As a GEER acolyte, I'll be sure to share my thoughts.

Great stuff. First thing it's got 12 tracks which is much better than 10! Balance is much better too, was never the biggest fan of GOTR as S2 opener. At first I thought Groovy Times looked a bit out of place but on second thoughts I think it does a good job of softening up the album a bit and it's a fantastic song anyway so could never be out of place anywhere!

Agreed about Groovy Times and it's got a great Joe vocal.

Thank you kindly Marky! This really brings out the power of the album without drowning it like in the normal mix (in my opinion). Weird seeing TG as the opener but it works very well! Adding Pressure and Groovy really bring a good balance to the album

This looks tasty. I personally would have kept Jail Guitar Doors and the Prisoner for my version of the album, and ejected a couple here, but this looks pretty ace. Gonna take a listen tomorrow.

It would be a harsh man who could argue against those two great tracks. I just felt that as "Jail Guitar Doors" was recorded in late '77 it belongs with a grouping of the debut possibly. As to "The Prisoner" that definitely belongs with an extra GEER disc as per my previous versions. But also as it had already been released months prior to the album release and the band had it's VFM policy it didn't feel right to include it.

Marky, I liked that you added "Pressure Drop" to this version. I think having a reggae song on GEER is a nice addition, not unlike Police And Thieves was on the first album.

Yeah it works for me. But I would guess that's exactly why the band didn't include it because it would've looked like a repetitive move. Bloody great cover though.
