Musically, I think it's one of the best examples of this "narco funk" thing they were (maybe) unintentionally creating. And if the vocals were done any other way, I think it would sound even weirder. It gives me hope for my own upcoming vocal project since I can't sing.
Conviction can counter so much of a lack of conventional singing ability. Biafra, Lydon, Mark E. Smith, Dylan—none have/had conventionally pleasing voices, but there's conviction in what they're doing that allows it to work.
Docs right. Being in tune comes second to passion.
Well hopefully I have some of that.
If the passion you clearly put into your music is anything to go by then definitely.
I've just got to find some unique way to join the sprechstimming ranks of Devoto and Smith. A tall order!

I'll do Paul Simonon doing Marlene Dietrich. That should yield some interesting results.

Ayo Marky, any idea if you still have the Travis Bickle vocal stems/samples you used to make these?

I Need them for a remix a friend is working on.

Sorry mate they were taken directly from the Taxi Driver DVD. I didn't bother saving them as I didn't think I would use them again.

I've now made remixes for all the Combat Rock tracks including B-sides. As a 7" box set and a 12" of Radio Clash. I will upload in the next few days.

That's the best news I've heard all day. I Look forward to spending the rest of my spring break immersing myself in your box set.

I’m very curious to listen your remix of Combat Rock and i hope you’ll include this remix of Red Angel Dragnet also because i’ve lost it.
As in your past remixes work, it will be include a Combat Rock live disc?
thanks in advance Marky
