Clash-related locations in London?
Clash-related locations in London?
Hi all! I’m visiting London soon and wondering if anyone has any suggestions for Clash-related places to visit? I’m only there for a few days sadly but would love ideas if anyone has them! I used the search feature here and there’s an old thread with a map but looks like it doesn’t work anymore
Thanks in advance!!

I think this archive.org link should work for the map: https://web.archive.org/web/20160325173 ... LONDON.htm

Am sure there's enough on the map to keep you busy, but a couple more might be Camley St just behind St Pancras Station (S! cover shoot) and Joe Strummer Subway on the Edgeware Road. Would also suggest a pint in the Crown in Streathem but sadly I think it may recently have closed its doors for the last time.

If the dates coincide with your trip you may find the Strummer Walk here interesting.

I did the Strummer Walk a couple of months back. Very interesting but be prepared for 2 hours of walking.FarawayTowns wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 10:35amIf the dates coincide with your trip you may find the Strummer Walk here interesting.

Thank you everyone!!! Lots of good info here, excited to go explore!
Sad to hear about The Crown and unfortunately my dates don’t align with the Strummer Walk, but excited to hit up as much of the rest that I can

What happened to Mick Jones personal clash museum ? wasnt that down Portabella Road or something. I haven't heard this mentioned for years but i remember Mick saying it was going to be an on going thing.

I haven’t heard about it in a while so assumed it wasn’t around anymore, but would love if I was wrong!NoMoreHugh wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 6:01pmWhat happened to Mick Jones personal clash museum ? wasnt that down Portabella Road or something. I remember going to see it when it was down by Pimlico or Vauxhall Bridge or somewhere but that's got to be near enough 20 years by this stage!amj241 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 6:04pmI haven’t heard about it in a while so assumed it wasn’t around anymore, but would love if I was wrong!NoMoreHugh wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 6:01pmWhat happened to Mick Jones personal clash museum ? wasnt that down Portabella Road or something. It was in 2009! Holy underpants, how time flies.Low Down Low wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 6:11pmI remember going to see it when it was down by Pimlico or Vauxhall Bridge or somewhere but that's got to be near enough 20 years by this stage!
Mick's collection was branded The Rock & Roll Library, if you google that phrase you'll find lots of links to reviews etc.
There was one phase where it was on display for a few weeks in some warehouse space off Portobello Road, then some time later it was transferred to that other place you mention, behind the Tate Gallery (or Tate Britain as it is now)
There's some info here. The 'images' link has some good pics.

I went along to see it and the venue was interesting, part of an art college campus I think, and very apt for the exhibition.
Some time later I went back for another really good show, about the graphic work of Barney Bubbles who designed countless record covers, posters, promo ads etc - Stiff Records stuff in particular.

Cheers John, not quite 20 years so, my grasp of passing time bears less and less resemblance to reality the more it passes these days! I'd love to see a list of Micks collection like with the Barney Bubbles one, I recall a welter of fascinating book and record titles.JohnS wrote: ↑30 Jun 2022, 7:41pmIt was in 2009!
