Clash busking in Edinburgh
Re: Clash busking in Edinburgh
Great fun performances and yes, a real eye opener on what the busking Clash were like compared to the audio-only stuff we've had for years.
Joe really channelling his inner Vince Taylor there!

It really is great. Joe's charisma is still well intact. What a performer he was.msza2 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2022, 7:33pmI laughed out loud, especially the close-up of him still singing as he was spilling onto the pavement.drowninghere wrote: ↑28 Sep 2022, 5:29pmLove it - classic comedy when Joe hangs upside down from the gate and then the two doors open!
Awesome video.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

For all the alcohol and drugs, he was doing ok there!

The charisma is off the charts. It's wild seeing him in full "shaman" mode in the light of day like that.Heston wrote: ↑28 Sep 2022, 8:04pmIt really is great. Joe's charisma is still well intact. Wow! did not ever think id see video of this- just rules

For real. The performances always seemed spirited but I had no idea he went this wild. Really confirms the positive vibes they all had on this tour.msza2 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2022, 8:43pmThe charisma is off the charts. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Sigh. What could have been. Maybe in another timeline.
Fucking amazing. Gives me hope for a full 84 show.

It shows what an electric showman Joe was! I think we're all blown away by this. I love love love it! It's just an incredibly rare treat to see this out of nowhere!

I'm still buzzing over this. When I first saw the post on FB my hopes went sky high, and as I clicked on it I steeled myself for disappointment in case it turned out to be a familiar audio recording over some photos of them busking. What an absolute thrill to see actual footage of the guys out and about and riding a total vibe!

Yeah me too — great camera work, all things considered. Joe hanging headfirst off a gate singing "if you can balance on the edge" is the kind of stuff you don't get in the audio boots.
You could see someone maybe filming one of the '84 arena shows or US university tour, but I never thought we'd get something from the busking trip. Fantastic surprise!

That is an exciting rock n roll performance that we never thought we'd see. Love the commitment to the songs and the exploration of the possibilities of the surroundings in expressing himself at the street level. One of the best Strummer videos out there. Priceless.

The essence of r'n'r. Hopefully some obsessed believer of Jonesy Holy Church would finally understand what Clash2 were
