Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
Does anyone here have all these comps?
I'm trying to find out if all the Joe Strummer & the Mescalero's tracks are live.
I think there's:
Junco Partner
Global A Go-Go
X-ray Style
Maybe more. Would like to know and are they from the Brixton Academy gig.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
I have them but am out of town until tomorrow night. I'm sure someone else will be able to respond to your quest for knowledge by then, but if not I'll check 'em out when I get home.

Thanks Flex appreciated. I'm putting a box set of Joe/Meskies etc stuff not previously included in 001 and 002.

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
From memory, X Ray Style is definitely the studio version and Junco is definitely live. I believe the live Junco track was included on the Hellcat Years release from 2012ish. (edit: checked on discogs and Junco is from Brixton Academy Nov. 23 2001).
I never had the comp with Global on it, but it according to discogs it's at the very least a different edit from the album version as the comp version has a runtime of 5:46.
There was also a video called Give Em the Boot which had a live Rudie on it and clip of Minstrel boy over the end credits. Rudie is labeled as from Brixton Academy also (starts around 10 min mark):
I also could have sworn there was another Hellcat video comp with a live Global on it but I haven't been able to find any trace as of yet. I could be misremembering.
Thanks for taking on this project Marky!

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
As far as addition random curios go, there's a whacked-out orchestral reprise of Mondo Bongo from the Mr. and Mrs. Smith movie that you can find here:
I enjoy it for what it is but it may not fit with what you're looking to include on your box set.

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
The live version of 'Junco Partner' from 'Give 'Em The Boot' and all the single extras you've mentioned were all on Hellcat's 2012 remastered version of 'Streetcore.'Marky Dread wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 11:15amWhat an absolute racket!

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
Indeed and what idiot was responsible for putting them on there in the order the singles etc were released and not in the order they were played live on the night. Also the two tracks on Assembly were not on the Streetcore reissue:dave202 wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 12:00pmThe live version of 'Junco Partner' from 'Give 'Em The Boot' and all the single extras you've mentioned were all on Hellcat's 2012 remastered version of 'Streetcore.'Marky Dread wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 11:15amWhat an absolute racket!

But I think there may be one other live track on the Give Em the boots comps. Waiting to hear back from Flex who has them all. I think there's an edit of X-ray Style on one of them.
Plus most fans would've already bought those singles. So that Streetcore offered nothing new.

It's also just odd that of 9 songs released from that show across two record labels, all but one have been a cover! Why!?Marky Dread wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 12:21pmIndeed and what idiot was responsible for putting them on there in the order the singles etc were released and not in the order they were played live on the night. Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
Why not just release the full gig as an extra disc as the bonus to Streetcore.msza2 wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 2:24pmIt's also just odd that of 9 songs released from that show across two record labels, all but one have been a cover! Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
I haven't got the CD itself but the Global A Go Go version on Give Em the Boot II on Amazon Music is 5.55 and a studio version, so I think just the same as the album.msza2 wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 10:33pmFrom memory, X Ray Style is definitely the studio version and Junco is definitely live. In a post from way back (https://clashcity.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1379), Inder remembered reading about the Brixton show being prepared for a release at some point.Marky Dread wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 11:15amWhat an absolute racket!

Perhaps those plans were scrapped when Joe died and Hellcat decided instead to raid that show for b-sides in service of an aggressive singles campaign for Streetcore. That sure seems myopic in retrospect.

Re: Give 'Em The Boot Compilations
Yeah that's exactly correct mate. I have remastered all 9 tracks released as B- sides and compilation tracks fot the box set I'm working on. Though the full show is available so I will remaster that at a later time.msza2 wrote: ↑21 Oct 2022, 12:56pmIn a post from way back (https://clashcity.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1379), Inder remembered reading about the Brixton show being prepared for a release at some point.Marky Dread wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 11:15amWhat an absolute racket!
