Re: Combat Rock Deluxe Edition
Late to the party with this one, still working my way through the remixes and these delights appear!!
Can't wait to get stuck into them. My April listening is now sorted.
Fantanstic Artwork as always, cannot imagine the time and effort you put into keeping everyone on this board extremely happy.
Arise Sir Marky we are all not worthy.
I have renamed my Clash collection to "The Marky Collection."
Thanks as always for sharing your work mate

Couldn't help myself and jumped straight to Rat Patrol. Very different to the 'acetate' full version that was going around. In particular Know your Rights has the repeated 'know your rights' line and is a lower quality recording.
I know this album was never released and so there's no true definitive version, but how did you go about choices like this? Is it based on keeping it fresh or based on some knowledge?
Mono: Should I Stay or Should I go now sounds exactly like the version I've heard on the Jukebox at pool halls so many times

Re: Combat Rock Deluxe Edition
It's the acetate remixed. "Lower quality recording" regards KYR do you mean the recording of the take compared to the final CR version? The vocal retake on CR is better. But great to have both.Mark^Bastard wrote: ↑02 Apr 2023, 11:50pmCouldn't help myself and jumped straight to Rat Patrol. Very different to the 'acetate' full version that was going around. This mix of RP had a lot of work done on it.
Choices? Are you referring to the mix/sound of RP or the choices of material chosen for live tracks etc?

Yeah you're right, my memory was very unreliable. The acetate version does have the repeating 'know your rights' loop instead of the "know your rights, these are your rights" from the album.
To my ears they sound quite different. Lots more tape noise / hiss in this recent copy. A lot louder too. None of this is a complaint!

Re: Combat Rock Deluxe Edition
Interesting. It has a different stereo distribution that opens up the sound but that's not tape hiss you're hearing.Mark^Bastard wrote: ↑04 Apr 2023, 12:44amMarky Dread wrote: ↑03 Apr 2023, 6:25amIt's the acetate remixed. Boiler went, no heating or hot water - life intervened. Logged on to nab this after getting the laptop on and some time to actually sit down and missed it. Feck. Sad face.
Re: Combat Rock Deluxe Edition
So if anyone is able to help me out with this and the remixes set that would be amazing.
As far as I know I have all (or very nearly most of MDs remxies/remasters) so will be able to do a trade if that helps a fellow out.
Very much bummed I missed these but I wasn't online again until tonight after finding it on Sunday night.
I've just hoked about and found/changed the notification settings so I will get emails - perhaps too late this time.
