The Clash Hammersmith Odeon, London 122779 RESTORED

Post by bazarboy75 »

A very "controlled" gig from the band. The original audience recording was enought decent but i choose to try a bit of restoration anyway
The band supporting Ian Dury & The Blockheads which something Joe seems to didn't really apreciated. The video of this concert exists somewhere, let's hope it's made one day.

Thanks Seb, aways will have fond memories of this show as it was my first time seeing The Clash live. Can't wait for the flac.
Will be great to have another version to go along side Marky's Great Remaster

You saw this concert, what luck! For me, it was the very first concert I ever heard of the band... on cassette of course. It's not really representative of the band's usual chaos, but I find it very interesting. And the version of bankrobber is a kind of novelty that I really appreciate.
Cheers

You didn't hear the version I did for the huge London Calling box set? I was also at this gig and it's a huge favourite of mine. I look forward to hearing your version when you upload the Flac files. I don't listen to music on YouTube. That's why I never uploaded my remasters as I don't like the idea of upgrading stuff then downgrading it to lesser file format.

Great show for sure. Re Armagideon Time i think it's one of the tracks they did consistently well, but my favourite version would have to be one of ones featuring Ranking Roger. Always loved those.

Well not everyone knows about this forum mate
Personally, I don't mind youtube compressing and the clash sounds so rotten live that I find the nuance subtle
FLAC coming mate but I must say that I'm experimenting with a new "mid side" plug and it's possible that I'll export a V2 of this concert if the improvement is noticeable.

Of course I understand that. But I'm only interested in sharing with my friends here.

The version I made for the box set sounds excellent. Though I removed the bugle intro and the chatter at the end as it's a bit superfluous really. And that's on my previous remaster.

Look forward to seeing what you did.
