New to me thanks for posting. They had a bunch of tunes I liked but man those drums just kill it. Completely the wrong sound.

There are some good songs on the album but the drum sound was terrible. Also agree about the guitar player.

Hello,

Gary Myrick was pretty good. I always liked this track:

Completely right. Drums on their record is a mess and many songs are a little bit too radio friendly.

Perhaps we should commission a Mohawk Revenge-style redo?

Yeah the drums really ruin what could have been a great LP, I always assumed they were programed by bernies drum machine to be honest....

Not a lot out there, though I seem to remember one posted on Wolfgang's Vault, of all places:
https://www.wolfgangs.com/music/havana- ... id=4870062

I taped them myself on four occasions -- the best of these is from a two-night showcase that they did at the Borderline (1/22-23/90), when they were trying to get signed. I can do a transfer of it, if you're interested.
There are some good songs on the album but the drum sound was terrible. Also agree about the guitar player.
Gary Myrick had a deft touch, no doubt about it. The album is good, but doesn't quite capture what I remember seeing live, which is where they flourished.

There were two different drummers (three, if you count the latter-day lineup with Gary Myrick only, if you wanna be technical). Travis Williams is the guy that's on the album, and I remember seeing live, but was only considered a fill-in drummer -- Stephen Klong was the guy they originally recruited, but couldn't fully commit, at the time.

The way I remember the difference is that Klong actually did the US tour in early '91, and was playing a conventional kit, whereas his predecessor used the electric one -- I'm assuming it was their way of trying to be cool and current, though I don't remember seeing any other band of that stripe using the setup that he had.
