Has any of the early '74-'75 demo tracks turned up?
Though when Tony James had the first Generation X album remastered a couple of years back he also had the London SS tape remastered on the companies dime. Just for private use only.

Tony seems like the type who would release it IMO. He seemed to be the driving force for MP Free and the whole carbon Silicon sharing ethos.Marky Dread wrote: ↑09 Jan 2025, 5:42amSimple answer is no.nohs wrote: ↑08 Jan 2025, 7:08pmThe infamous internet rabbit-hole led me to this site discussing works of London SS.

Probably his loyalty to Mick that prevents this from ever seeing the light of day.

I hope Tony can influence some more Generation X remasters and rarities as well. The Kiss Me Deadly LP was a bit of a botch job in 2002.

I'm surprised that we haven't had a deluxe version of "Valley of the Dolls" as that's the album that contained their biggest hit singles.Telecaster wrote: ↑10 Jan 2025, 6:26amI hope Tony can influence some more Generation X remasters and rarities as well. Re: London SS
I'm sure Valley of the Dolls would benefit from a trawl through Tony's archives, especially for earlier versions of Love like Fire, English Dream, Night of the Cadillacs.
I wonder what would have happened if London Calling was produced by Ian Hunter and Dolls by Guy Stevens?

That would be cool, as well as some live stuff!Marky Dread wrote: ↑10 Jan 2025, 8:40amI'm surprised that we haven't had a deluxe version of "Valley of the Dolls" as that's the album that contained their biggest hit singles.Telecaster wrote: ↑10 Jan 2025, 6:26amI hope Tony can influence some more Generation X remasters and rarities as well. Dolls would be better, London Calling would be worse.Telecaster wrote: ↑10 Jan 2025, 11:40amI'm sure Valley of the Dolls would benefit from a trawl through Tony's archives, especially for earlier versions of Love like Fire, English Dream, Night of the Cadillacs.

Dolls sounds great to me. IH really brought out the best from Derwood. Imagine what he could have done for Mick

It was recorded at Wessex and just about every album I've heard during the punk days sounds great from there.

Re: London SS
A vague memory but I recall Tony posted a pic of demo cassettes from around the time the 1st album deluxe edition set came out. Does anyone else remember seeing that pic?Marky Dread wrote: ↑09 Jan 2025, 5:42amSimple answer is no.nohs wrote: ↑08 Jan 2025, 7:08pmThe infamous internet rabbit-hole led me to this site discussing works of London SS.

"Cathy Comes Home" is on Sweet Revenge which was an early version of the Kiss Me Deadly album. It's on the 3 disc Anthology set. I've got that release and it's a good listen.Telecaster wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 5:56pmA demo tape of Dolls including Cathy Comes Home?

I expect those demos for the VotD album were also remastered.
