Chris gives a timeline from mid-1981 thru Mick's sacking. It was a good listen overall. No revelations we didnt already know but he added some details, nuance and perspective that was interesting. Worth the listen.

I always come away slightly saddened from hearing/reading Salewicz on Strummer / The Clash, probably because they were such heroes to me when I was younger and all he ever seems to do is point out their feet of clay, rather than there beaut6 & genius. Perhaps it’s just him telling the truth rather than the myth.

Yeah that's been mentioned a few times over the years.
It's the opening bars if you sing the Spanish Bombs lyric it becomes obvious.

Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty
We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.

I'd never noticed it til Simonon brought it up in an interview a few years back. Wicked steal.Marky Dread wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025, 8:03amYeah that's been mentioned a few times over the years.

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board
