Normally I find this shit infuriating, but how funny is it that he posted this message on a website run by the guy responsible for circulating the recordings in the first place?

Re: Bankrobber records....is this rare?
Hey, are these the guys that originally did that strummer/cash "redemption song" single? Cuz I recall that was kinda legit, and I've been wanting to pick up a copy since I didn't hop on the trolley the first time. if anyone knows the appropriate place to get it, I'd be obliged.

wasn't that just a pirate of Redemption Song off the Cash Unearthed box + a bootleg live track each - what's legit about it?
btw - did anyone else see Vince in Mojo re Cut The Crap demos -
(wtf is this about Chris Knowles planning a Clash mark II film & Vince wanting to do a "Free As A Bird style rerecording of Cut The Crap with Jo's vocals? )

Aren't those actually the same guys? Eh, whatever. Next paycheck I'll probably plunk down $$$ for it. Thanks for the tip, Marky.

Can Joe's vocals be isolated without the master tapes? I can't see Bernie handing them over to Vince.Guest wrote:Vince wanting to do a "Free As A Bird style rerecording of Cut The Crap with Jo's vocals? )

I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

If I had the CTC master tapes, I'd strip away everything except Joe's vocals and those parping synths, then get Mick, Paul and Topper to overdub the music in a real Clash stylee!

I must say that this type of post-Tupac style opportunism disturbing in every instance. You think Joe would have had anything to do with such a project? Not only that, but the fact that Vince has anything to do with it is laughable.Heston wrote:If I had the CTC master tapes, I'd strip away everything except Joe's vocals and those parping synths, then get Mick, Paul and Topper to overdub the music in a real Clash stylee!

Frankly, I would love to hear "Play To Win" with the London Symphony Orchestra.threecoffins wrote:I must say that this type of post-Tupac style opportunism disturbing in every instance. Joe's on the record? He is barely audible. The soccer hooligans on the other hand...threecoffins wrote:Not from that quagmire of a mix.Heston wrote:Can Joe's vocals be isolated without the master tapes? Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
