Wow...CCR corrected speed

Post by msza »

I've been living with the 2000 US s/t and finally just downloaded the correct version of CCR. Makes a HUGE difference. Always loved it live... and I actually like the studio version now, too!

This new revelation just helps to confirm my belief that the Clash's peak was year and a half between the Clash and London Calling.

1. Complete Control
2. CCR (correct speed!)
3. Jail Guitar
4. White Man
5. Safe European
6. English Civil War
7. Tommy Gun
8. Drug Stabbin TIme
9. Stay Free
10. I Fought the Law
11. Gates
12. Cap Radio II

This tracklist tops any single slab of vinyl they put out.

That tops 99.9% of slabs of vinyl put out by anyone.

Wait, so what's supposed to be the running time of the studio cut?

The correct version is 3:56, the crap version is 3:50.

Would rather not post it since it's an official release. It's on I-tunes for a buck though.

Oh okay...I was thinking that you just manually corrected the speed.

Nah, got it off Essential Clash. Apparently (according to wikipedia) if you have CCR on any release except the 2000 US S/T, you have the correct version.

I'm under the impression that I've heard 3 versions of CCR. One was just stupid fast, I think it was the 2000 US version, another was the original, and I thought there was another, corrected, yet still slightly fast version.

The "extra" version could have just been someone attempting to correct the speed, though.

I was going to counter this by listing a bunch of LC tracks but it doesn't matter, that is a mighty fine playlist.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Really? I feel like that's one of the weaker tracks on GEER.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .
