This confused me a little, apparently a photoshop job. What's Joe looking at in the original picture?
In the original photo, he’s looking at a Japanese music mag. Will try to find it.
Found it, thanks to your hint. Music Life.
Who pfaffed the pfaff? Who got pfaffed tonight?

I don't think I've seen this interview before and don't see it on youtube. Interesting that Rick Wakeman and Strummer seem to be on the same page and almost get into it with Nick Kent. The discussion is almost interesting and maybe the full thing would be if it ever surfaces:

From BMC: Don't Quote Me BBC2 (30mins)

With Rick Wakeman. The Rock, Pop and Press episode presented by Brian Redhead. He of Sex Pistols anti-punk TV fame in Dec 76.Joe Strummer is interviewed (see pic in Redemption Song book. This was Series 3, they were 30 minute episodes. 30mins
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I've seen it before. I don't don't like Nick Kent or the editor but then most (not all) music journo's never took their heads out of their own backsides back then. Half the reviews were unreadable psycho babble. I've seen more than my fair share of bands over the years and the reviews seemed so far wide of reality that you know the tosser spent most of the evening at the bar.

Great pics. I didn't realise the Rock Garden later became the Middlesbrough Arena. I can now say I've played on the same stage as the Clash as my old band played there in 1996. :approve:

Thanks for posting, I've never seen these before. Got a chuckle out of the description of the audience in front of the stage as the "mosh pit"

You had to ruin it didn't you! No doubt you'll be saying Bros and Robbie Williams played there also.
