I still like Mick's proposed tracklist. Especially with his atmospheric mixes.Heston wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 3:36pmKnow Your Rights

Re: The Clash observations thread.
Maybe I'm biased but I like the Rat Patrol double album track list best as well, though I prefer what they did with KYR and SISOSIG on Glyn's mixes, and the edit on Straight to Hell. I don't see Midnight to Stevens on the album. Love Kangaroo Court (Strummer!) and like Beautiful People but they do sound a bit unfinished. RAD is presumably on Combat Rock as the obligatory Paul lead vocal, plus the direct social commentary about New York. Atom Tan... MJ sometimes jokes that all of his compositions end with a nuclear holocaust. Death is a Star is an interesting track but maybe not as an album closer. For a single album track list, I'm copasetic relegating Cool Confusion and First Night Back in London to B Sides.

I've got a blind spot for Midnight To Stevens, I just think it's a great composition. Yeah, it doesn't fit thematically, I'll concede that. I'd happily swap it for a Joe-sang RAD.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 6:27pmMaybe I'm biased but I like the Rat Patrol double album track list best as well, though I prefer what they did with KYR and SISOSIG on Glyn's mixes, and the edit on Straight to Hell. It would give the Cost of Living EP a run for its money.Wolter wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 7:06pmBut WHAT an ep!Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 3:25pmFiguring out what to cut from CR is a very seductive but dangerous exercise. In no time we'd be down to maybe a four-song ep.

So close—Know Your Rights instead of GD. I won't say it's great, but it's a wonderfully flawed record. I love it for all of its batshit qualities.

GD probably my second favourite track on CR after STH (close call).

I think it definitely grew in my estimation after the survivor series. It’s not perfect, but I was taking it for granted a bit.Flex wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 8:06pmyeah, maybe that's the way to put it. great for me.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 7:58pmI won't say it's great, but it's a wonderfully flawed record. Probably my least favourite (if the 5) but MrsW played my old vinyl copy on the weekend and it sounded great. First time I have listened to it back to back in a long time.Wolter wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 9:34pmI think it definitely grew in my estimation after the survivor series. As Joe said, half-great, half-wiggy. But the wiggy stuff is mostly very good too.

Re: The Clash observations thread.
Inoculated City & Sean Flynn (I prefer the extended version) have over the years become album favs for me. Some combination of Rat Patrol vs GJ’s mixes would make for a stone cold classic.
