It's all old stuff but radio 6 are celebrating Combat Rock with an 'artist's collection'.

Such an inspired choice for FHTE - a b-side featuring prominently Mikey Dread toasting throughout. The band is on fire and Mickey Gallagher's contributions really enrich the sound. Topper is as perfect as always with one of my favorite beats of his. Mick does some great moody improv throughout. For a band that excelled at pure energy and loud rock ragers, this slow burn mood piece is just so great:
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

There's a level of care in that release that's much higher than subsequent archival releases. I think this, Cap Radio, and City of the Dead balance the more obvious inclusions super well.

It is a very solid album/package. Though obviously having Bill Price (RIP) on board seriously helped with sprucing up the old tapes.

For sure. I selfishly was bummed after his passing that we wouldn't get any additional Clash mixes from him.

A Clash Idle Thought: I'd kill for a dub tribute to combat Rock type album. Done right, that could be a killer.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Indeed but as it's EET WEEK you'll have to do with my remixed version of Cut The Crap that's coming a bit later today. This is a serious remix of the album. Removing a lot of the unnecessary and unwanted sounds so no horns on "Dictator". Oh and a title change to "Land of One Thousand Stances" because "Cut The Crap" is well crap.
