Anyway, the barmaid started dissecting the lyrics of SISOSIG. She said the Clash are one of her favourite bands! Not what I was expecting to see/hear, but I'm still going to try to avoid it in the future.

I think this is new to me:
From 1984, not particularly worthwhile unless you speak Italian. I was hoping for live footage, but they inexplicably show the 1977 White Riot promo clip.
*edit* - I see BMC has this with a clip uploaded in February of last year:

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It's crazy how little footage there is of them actually playing. You would have thought they'd have popped up on a European tv show or something during that long 1984 tour.matedog wrote: ↑03 Feb 2021, 7:25pmI think this is new to me:

The only footage of them playing that I know of is Roskilde and that snippet of I Fought the Law from Entertainment Tonight in the early US tour. Those summer 85 festival appearances are frustrating because it seems every other band was pro filmed except the Clash. Man, they were paranoid.matedog wrote: ↑03 Feb 2021, 7:57pmThe only footage of them playing that I know of is Roskilde and that snippet of I Fought the Law from Entertainment Tonight in the early US tour. Jesus christ, how hard it is to Google "Topper Headon" instead of "Clash drummer?"

I think I'd have liked that better if they'd gone with Terry as the actual underrated musician, i mean it would be batshit crazy but edgy as fuck. Of course, they'd then probably have gone with a Topper pic!

Hello,
Save this for the next time some music critic (I'm looking at you, Rolling Stone) whines about not being taken seriously.
Re: The Clash observations thread.
I would guess the MSN.com editor wasn't paying any attention to the post and knows zip about The Clash lineup.

Pablo LaBritain, Rob Harper and Pete Howard are not impressed. And Jon Moss is gutted.matedog wrote: ↑11 Feb 2021, 9:31pmNow THAT would have made my head explode.Low Down Low wrote: ↑11 Feb 2021, 7:48pmI think I'd have liked that better if they'd gone with Terry as the actual underrated musician, i mean it would be batshit crazy but edgy as fuck. Re: The Clash observations thread.
Couple of Clash connections here. Some would say Mick took more than a little inspiration for SISOSIG. And on bass is one of the men who is rumoured to have played bass on Rock the Casbah, Mr Busta Cherry Jones.
