Not in the least bit controversial for me. It's just making me smile people putting these Clash albums in preference and not including CTC. You don't have to like it and I respect that but denying it's existence seems nuts now.matedog wrote: ↑30 Sep 2020, 9:21amSo the best tracks on CTC are better than the worst on CR? That doesn't seem particularly controversial.Marky Dread wrote: ↑30 Sep 2020, 9:06amCombat Rock has some brilliant Clash tracks.
But I got to be honest I play "This Is England" and "Three Card Trick" way more than "Death Is a Star" and "Atom Tan".

I remember reading how Cheapskates was the worst song on a maligned album and finally hearing it and thinking, "that's a catchy ass chorus." Yeah, the rest of it suffers from the same issues as the non-ECW/TG/SEH tracks on SEH, but the chorus is a pretty strong.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

"Cheapskates" Should've been the B-side to "English Civil War" and "Pressure Drop" should've been on the album. The album would've sounded great in my opinion if Mick had mixed it all during the Marquee sessions. Those tracks have a much more organic feel.

Sorry, the worst of the three CR singles for me. Never had any fondness for it at all.

The divine rests within your phone.

I've just put it on and I heartedly disagree. It's dull as dishwater. If we're talking underrated, for me it's Radio One and Midnight To Stevens.

I dont care much for it's narrative but musically I really like it. Same with "Cool Confusion".
