Has Mick retired?

Post by steved »

Saw a lot of love on social media for Mick wishing him a happy birthday and in last 6 months we have had records from Paul and Don. Anyone know if Mick will release anything or tour again? Fine if not he has been great, but I’m always hoping

Think he's done mate. He may do the odd guest appearance or some album production, but as a album/tour type of artist, that boat sailed a while ago.

It certainly seems that way. I would love to hear something new from him as I've loved his music ever since first hearing 'White Riot' as a 16-year old. Even off the beaten track things like the 6-track live cd with Taurus Trekker are great - you can feel how the audience appreciate him. Bollocks, I'll have to dig that out and play it now, his singing 'Broadway' is brilliant, almost the last Clash song I expected him to do.

Never knew of this collab, thank you for mentioning! Watching the video of them playing it on YouTube has helped me learn how to play Broadway myself. Such a beautiful song.

I'd love to hear Mick have a couple of interviews, for the Rockonteurs podcast. It would be great if they asked him some questions about his career and not the usual well known ones.

I hope he curates an overview of his career at some point, whether audio and or visual. He deserves more credit for his work.

An anthology would be a great idea, and perhaps a good opportunity to include a few rarities, given that it doesn't seem likely that there will be any further expanded reissues of the original BAD albums.

Low key - in conversation - style gigs would be a great way to promote it, but of course if Mick doesn't want to perform anymore we have to respect that...
