Mick O'Shea certainly has an interesting back catalogue: Sex Pistols, Amy Winehouse, Guns n Roses, One Direction, Katy Perry, 5 Seconds to Summer (Aussie teenage heartthrob band, had to check). Gives new meaning to the term eclectic.
The cover and book title are terrible for starters. Will definitely give it a chance, though.

Was gonna come up to Sunderland and nick yours but the train fare costs more than the book so Mick wins.Heston wrote:For sure.Marky Dread wrote:Mick has always been in tune musically to what's going on. I'm not expecting much from it, but at 12 nicker it's worth a punt.

I think the cover is cool.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I only just realised that is actually 3 photos of Mick on the cover. I'd been kinda thinkin why on earth should Joe and Paul be on the cover of a book about Mick. Shoulda gone to specsaversMarky Dread wrote:I agree about the title but I like the cover.Low Down Low wrote:Mick O'Shea certainly has an interesting back catalogue: Sex Pistols, Amy Winehouse, Guns n Roses, One Direction, Katy Perry, 5 Seconds to Summer (Aussie teenage heartthrob band, had to check). You'd think Keith Richards doing his book might have softened Mick on the subject.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote:It's a bit run-of-the-mill rock bio I'm afraid. Facts (mostly right, not all) and dates and old quotes. Certainly on the other end of the spectrum from Salewicz's florid psychoanalysis of Joe. Very far from what an autobiography would offer (not that one is in store for us).

Mick was always a big fan of Ian Hunter's "Diary of a Rock 'n' Roll Star" so come on Mick you're this generations Ian Hunter.Silent Majority wrote:You'd think Keith Richards doing his book might have softened Mick on the subject.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote:It's a bit run-of-the-mill rock bio I'm afraid. Re: New Mick biog
Mick asked Nic Cohn to write a book on the Clash but Nic said he was from the previous generation.

Re: New Mick biog
It's a start, since it's criminal we've had to wait this long to get the first biog treatment of any kind centered around Mick alone. Hopefully this is the icebreaker that gets a couple other writers churning up more fertile ground, since the Joe biog material is pretty played out of new revelations at this point and there's definitely a lot of untold/under-told stories to mine out of Mick's varied life and career that would lend themselves to good reading. I certainly think there are *less* interesting Class of '77 figures who've gotten higher-fanfare treatment by the biographers, so while it's definitely a niche reading audience the available material about the man (even if he's too guarded to provide it himself) is certainly up-to-task for supporting a few interesting books or engrossing longform pieces.
