Hopefully it'll get a cd release also. Looking forward to hearing the demos and alt versions.
I don’t know Gen X catalogue well enough, could some of these demos be pre Gen X with Mick?Marky Dread wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 1:32pmHopefully it'll get a cd release also. Looking forward to hearing the demos and alt versions.
No just Generation X stuff.101Walterton wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 3:15pmI don’t know Gen X catalogue well enough, could some of these demos be pre Gen X with Mick?Marky Dread wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 1:32pmHopefully it'll get a cd release also. Looking forward to hearing the demos and alt versions.
So the SS tracks mentioned earlier ever materialised?Marky Dread wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 5:17pmNo just Generation X stuff.101Walterton wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 3:15pmI don’t know Gen X catalogue well enough, could some of these demos be pre Gen X with Mick?Marky Dread wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 1:32pmHopefully it'll get a cd release also. It's my understanding they have been remastered with the Generation X material. However there was never any intention of releasing them with Generation X material. Why would they as they simply don't belong together.101Walterton wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 8:00pmSo the SS tracks mentioned earlier ever materialised?Marky Dread wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 5:17pmNo just Generation X stuff.101Walterton wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 3:15pmI don’t know Gen X catalogue well enough, could some of these demos be pre Gen X with Mick?Marky Dread wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 1:32pmHopefully it'll get a cd release also. No worries. I would guess if they ever saw the light it would be as a stand alone release. I mean where do those tracks really belong The Clash? Generation X? The Damned? The Boys? Who is on them other than Tony and Mick. I guess as Mick has the rights to them ( I believe) if they ever got released (which I seriously doubt) they could be on a Mick Jones box set. Something I would seriously love to see.101Walterton wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 9:54pmBecause I got about 3 threads and Tony J interview confusedMarky Dread wrote: ↑12 Feb 2019, 9:35pmIt's my understanding they have been remastered with the Generation X material. Brilliant.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 6:33pmA sidetrack, but Mick told me the other day that Guy Stevens designed a promo visual for Violent Luck (a name he of course came up with) using the photo of James Dean getting all drenched by the spurting new oil well he dug in Giant. Violent Luck.
Not very much really left that's not been bootlegged or officially released over the years. One interesting artifact maybe whether the backing tracks that The Clash laid down in Maida Vale for the John Peel session still exist. John Waters said they definitely laid down a couple of backing tracks before walking out of the session.Flex wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 7:47pmmore and more, those london ss tapes are turning out to be one of the last great missing pieces of early punk rock history. i mean (and this is a genuine question, i don't do a very good job keeping this stuff straight in my head), what else is left of similar historical importance in terms of 70s punk?

Peel and Waters have both claimed the band laid down something before they walked out. The engineer is not so sure and the band don't seem to know too much either.matedog wrote: ↑13 Feb 2019, 9:00pmEh?
