It's an utter whisp of a performance (everybody's playing as if they don't want to wake a sleeping baby) but the melody for Sambadrome is actually pretty great and the lyrics have that likable glancing Strummer imprint.

I always read Sambadrome as sadtrombone.
Holy shit, that's funny.

I voted for it as well. I haven't listened in forever, but I remember it being quite the clunker.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Dial-a-Hitman here. I get bored with the sample.

Funny, this news got posted in my department's IM channel at work and I replied "a chilling look at my future."

I hear that, but the concept of a fake sample from a non-existent movie is a brilliant concept. Getting Hollywood actors who'd both go onto greater heights to perform it was a very neat trick too.

Yeah, I like the sample and the way the music trundles on behind it with that harmonica sound.

What I don't like about the track is that stupid digital beat that can never decide if it's in time or not. I still hear it and and despair at the decision to add it. It knocks the track off-kilter and is totally unnecessary.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Some of Mick's phrasing is a little demo like. While it's technically very well sung, I can't help but feel it doesn't hit the possible definitive vocal performance. It might be that the emphasese are in what sounds like the wrong place.

Per my above post, for me, that's exactly the wrong way to hit that line. I'd like to hear it with a slightly unhinged casualness, not like a Gilbert & Sullivan romantic lead.

Sticking with HB.

Sambadrome is amazing, shame it's on its way so early by the looks of it.
