Nice work! I'd forgotten how much I like Mirror Man.

Great track with Lionel Bart.

I Turned Out A Punk might be my favourite remix of all. Sounds like a different song.

This is not a request but it'd be interesting to hear the entire song done in the style of the music at ~2:50

My only problem with the original was that for a song called "I Turned Out A Punk" the guitars sounded so distant.

It was difficult getting a sound that I felt improved on the original. The original mix on the whole of F Punk was a real shame as it's completely detrimental to what could've been a real contender of an album. I did a lot of work on those tracks for this comp. Compare "Get It All From My TV" on the original to my new mix for evidence. There was already a mono mix available of "Gonna Try" and I wanted to get a better stereo version which I believe I've managed.

F-Punk felt like Mick was maybe interested in trying to write some rock and pop songs for the first time since about '91 and the production completely fucks the effort. I really enjoy the tweaks you made here, Marky. I think you've done a great job considering what you had to work with.

I remember being super excited for F-Punk and just being disappointed.

Yeah, that cover sucked me in too. Mick was rocking again. But he wasn't. I remember that shouted count-in at the start of I Turned Out a Punk then the guitars kicked in like a wet fart. Still not a big fan of Higher Power or F-Punk.

We were living in NC at the time and I discovered it by accident. Hot damn, I thought. No BAD II or Big Audio—Big Audio Dynamite! And then … fuck.

So many reasons F-Punk turned out like it did. The Sony/Sire/Radioactive record contract mess. I don’t want to rehash stories I’ve told already but if Sony hadn’t screwed up resigning the group (helped along by Kurfirst), we would have had a quite different BAD catalogue. Marky’s reworking of I Turned Out A Punk is the best I’ve heard, including the Sony UK single remix.

I've got a promo CD single with a US remix and a UK mix. The US remix is by Ed Stasium and is the better of the two. The UK mix listed as being by Mick and Andre is brickwalled in comparison.

Anyway this is far and away my favorite mix of I Turned Out a Punk. That song always irked me because it had so much potential.

Yeah, Marky, I got my mixes mixed up. The US one is the outside remix. Didn’t remember it was Stasium. There’s that Kurfirst connection.
