Carbon/Silicon : Come One Come All

Thanks so much for this Marky!! C/S is a bit hit or miss for me but one thing that I liked about them was that Mick seemed to be having fun riffing on the guitar and it was a time of a lot of output and experimentation with the new outlets/methods for releasing music. Also, I’m not sure without C/S we get the BAD reunion, which for selfish reasons was really special for me. I saw them twice & they were cool both times, sometimes you just need a good old fashioned rock n roll show. I remember hearing Weapons of Angel Delight and thinking it wouldn’t have been out of place on Rat Patrol. Super Paradise Beach, Be Good To Yourself, Really the Blues, National Anthem, and WDMF were a few early standouts and the Carbon Casino gigs provided some memorable moments. I think they’ll kinda mostly be an afterthought but there is a lot of solid material to make for a really enjoyable listen, especially when compiled and spruced up like this.

This compilation is great, love the edits! I also kind of forgot how interesting this project was. I like the weird experimental songs the best, the straight ahead type songs like "What the Fuck" and "Caeser's Palace" would have been some much better with a real drummer. My theory on those rock type songs released by C/S is that they were demos for that new Clash project he was kicking around with Joe. I have no evidence for that but 'WTF" does have the "CCR"/"Can't Explain" riff they used so often in the early days.

I look forward to this set! I remember some of the early EPs were not made available for download, did those tracks ever turn up?

I have them all. In the remastering process.

I doubt those tracks are the stuff Mick had worked on for the alleged Clash record. Mick uses the Remote Control riff on "Buckethead" from The Crack-up Suite and can't see him re-using those riffs for a new Clash venture.

I don't know to be honest. Some really great lyrics though. I'm listening to Ignore Alien Orders as I type this. So much lyrical humour and serious issues side by side.

I'm sure TeddyB will know how much input there was from Tony if any.

This is exciting as there were a handful of uncirculated early songs that were never re-recorded (to my sometimes faulty memory). As always I admire and enjoy your generous work.

Regarding the possible Joe & Mick reunion project. It breaks my heart the same way the Specials were all set to record another album when Terry Hall was taken ill and passed. I kind of don't want to know how serious the Clash reunion project was.

Thanks for the info Teddyb! I am listening to the new Don Letts album now and that track lists John Cusack as a guest and I don't hear Terry Hall on it? There was a story circulating that Terry Hall was removed from the album, I think he was on a few tracks originally.
