I've given theses demos a remix/remaster. Think they deserve some more love.

Micks vocals are really good on these tracks.

I've redone the artwork just to differentiate between this and the previous version.

Thanks Marky, hugely appreciated. Really great to hear these and I like the Theatre of Hate sax link. I wonder how the strumming that old song lyrics would have been received at the time?

If Joe had heard these demos you mean. I doubt that he heard them at the time if at all. The press and Joe were pushing that old "Elizabeth Taylor in a bad mood" story and when BAD (Mick & Don) were interviewed on Whistle Test Andy Kershaw said Mick had been fired allegedly for "rock star behaviour" which Mick said most swiftly that it was someone sitting behind them pulling the strings (Bernie). Of course history proved Mick correct.

I dont find the song "Winning/Napoleon of Notting Hill" bitter at all. It's just an honest account of the situation. Joe had long since admitted his ego had gotten out of control. Yep definitely a case of "talent worth waiting for". If I had been in Micks shoes I would've been fucking furious being kicked out of my own group. But Mick as always picked himself up (The Bottom Line) and conducted himself with dignity.

That all sounds fair enough to me. I was meaning more how they would have been received by the press and fans. Impossible to know now given TRAC bit the dust.

Very difficult to judge mate really. I doubt they would've been released as we hear them in demo form. Some as with all demos would not have made any release. I expect the shift from The Clash sound would've annoyed a lot of fans. I would imagine a lot of Clash fans that shut their ears after GEER would've had little time for Combat Rock let alone B.A.D.

The lyrics to "Winning" would've pissed a few people off I expect. But then I wasn't impressed with "We Are The Clash". So if Micks was a retort to that then I say fair enough.

Remember Joe told Mick that BAD was the biggest pile of rubbish he had ever heard. Maybe he was just desperate to put the old band back together but after releasing a song called "We Are The Clash" I doubt that would've made Mick want to reform a failing band.

I loved The Clash because they pushed forward musically trying different things and not staying stagnant. I love the first Clash album but I don't need 5 different versions of that.

Hello Marky,

Thanks for this. I wasn't a big fan when I first heard these. I'm curious to see how I respond to these polished versions.

Okay I think this is as good as I can do:

As the lights went out in Alabam
A fireball that was retro grad
It was a public statement that said
Associations had gone bad

And then the world cooled
There'd been a big mistake
And we've had the last days
It's coming down

So we climb into our cardboard boxes
The basement under the table
While the straight mile
Down beneath the parliament
They say the situations stable

And it's a world for the right things
Baby do you understand
It's coming down

Euroshima
Euroshima

As the rock we dragged was never sold
Off the state of Minnesota
We must stop bragging we mustn't fail
To save it going much colder

And it's a world for acknowledgement
While we drink from the snakes
That's coming down

Meanwhile on the homestead
We've all got to stay in
Counting tins of peaches
Clutching keepers guns

Cause It's a world calling us
Who sit and wait
That they precipitate
That's coming down

Euroshima
Euroshima

We all f-fade bystanders
That's burning to the rest
Once feeling exchanged in anger
That's left everybody dead

N' It's a world that's starts fear instead
What they know you want
It's coming down

The wind that blew the fallout
Is floating through the air
The rivers full of floating fish
We sit pulling out clumps of hair

This is the world where
We are the missile bait
Tell me is this hate
That's coming down

Euroshima
Euroshima
Euroshima
Well deciphered!

I think "Associations had gone bad" is "Negotiations had gone bad"? Less confident about this, but maybe "bloated fish" rather than "floating fish"?

Least confident of the lot; maybe "To save it going much colder" is "To save it for Dakota" but no idea if that even makes sense!

"Negotiations had gone bad" that works better.

"Floating fish" I think is correct as their all dead from fallout.

"Going much colder" or "Dakota" no real idea. I thought it might be a reference to the sun dying out.
