Seven Years Appreciation

Post by Silent Majority »

Can't believe BAD didn't release this one. The demo's got an unusual, understated Mick vocal and perhaps the best lyrics of any BAD song that wasn't on TIBAD or No10.

Story about a black man
Needs (?) your law and family
Time of 20th Century
The place was Lee County
A few days left now
And I still don't know
Only thing that's certain
I'm still sitting on death row

Seven years in Parchment Pen
For a crime I didn't do
Prey a stay of execution
And my family does too
They got a false confession
They bought a little time
Down the barrel of a gun
You confess to any crime

Now my attorney's wage
Is paid by the state
He's thinking about a payrise
While he decides my fate

The chaplain says to trust in God
To else can I turn?
Way over the horizon
Some crucifixes burn
I said I was not guilty
They said it was a lie
There was a girl done told them
About my poodle (?) alibi

Been seven years away
And all I see is bars
I really miss the simple things
Like the moon and the stars

A minute after midnight
Supreme court says no
Kinda glad it's over
Time I gotta go
a lifetime serving one machine
Is ten times worse than prison

Indeed a great tune, just a shame it's not available in any other version....

I'll lend a hand if you have any trouble.

It's got some good lyrics.

Yes, lots of trouble! It makes sense to start at the beginning, but the mix loses all vocal coherency as the song opens.

I hear this on the first line...

Running low, need a rev
Megawatts for my bed

I may try more later when I have more time.

Re: Electric Vandal lyrics, this is the best I can do, any corrections welcome...

Running low, need a rev
Megawatts for my bed
Spin it out, new suit
looking real electro-cute
Hot tip, gotta leave
Power plant, got to feed
Night life on the CB scene
No distortion here with me
la la la....

Luck was in, what a shock
Light bulb in a frock
What a dish, I have to stare
Checking out the software

Said I was electric vandal
neighbourhood in big shock scandal
Stick my finger in your socket
1000 volts and watch me rocket
Line in, line out
There's one thing I'm sure about
All good things don't have to wait
Main supply with current friends

She was dressed in silk not nylon
Boom boom in my sonic pylon
Said I'd like to automate
I said now, she said wait
Asked the clock to feed her later
Said I'd like to generate her
The power and her neon lamp
Says we'd have to equalize
la la la...

Said she'd like to marry me
Maybe have some batteries
Instant source of irritation
Getting me some insulation

Said I was electric vandal.....

Her ideas gave me the blues
Kicked her out, blew a fuse
When I feel her glitter rabbit
It's the babes that get the stagger
Wanted things a little sweeter
Stuck your shelly in your ear
Many girls shed a tear
Sitting in my electric chair
la la la...

Out of ten and asking me
I would give for dv
Never really got my jack
Looking for some feedback

Said I was electric vandal....

Kicked her out, blew a fuse
When I feel her glitter rabbit
It's the babes that get the stack
Wanted things a little sweeter
Stuff your shilling in the meter
Many girls shed a tear
Sitting in my electric chair
la la la...

Out of ten and asking me
I would give for dv
Never really got my jack

Other lines I don't think are correct but can not decipher are :

Maybe have some batteries
When I feel her glitter rabbit
I would give for dv - It sounds like 40p but that makes no sense about marks out of ten from the previous line?

Forces have been looting
My humanity
Curfews have been curbing
The end of liberty

We're the flowers in the dustbin...
No fuchsias for you.

"Without the common people you're nothing"

Nos Sumus Una Familia

Hey Marky, we're getting there.

Nice additions, I love this song.

Same here it has a great feel to it, I am suprised it never made the album or at least a B-side.
