Leather Jackets

Post by Chuck Mangione »

JESUS FRIGGIN' CHRIST they've gotten expensive. Anybody see how high Lewis Leathers' prices have gotten lately? The Clash have been wearing Lewis Leathers since their existence, I'm sure, but there's no way they've always been this fucking expensive. How much were they in the punk years, approx. 100-200 dollars, right? Affordable. Especially for those who actually wore 'em (working-class/lower-class to middle-class Punks). Now look at them! They're like 645 EURO... EURO!!! That's like a million bucks (about $1000 actually). Fucking yuppies can only afford THAT!

There are some exceptions though, like some punk rock clothing sites, eBay, and thrift stores. But still... boo to Lewis Leathers! Greedy bastards! -- Quality leather MY ASS!

Also, I made this as an official leather jackets thread. So feel free to discuss YOUR jackets made out of dead cows and the likes.

I use the finest in human leather for my jackets. Straight from the backs of Tuscan peasants. Hand-stitched by my most dexterous slaves.

I've got a padded brown suede jacket for winter (tho I haven't worn it this year) and a very beat-up cheap black leather jacket that seems to weigh about ninety pounds when I wear, which is rarely.

I bought a nice used biker jacket for 66 bucks a few years ago. It suffices.

Yes, of course. And a Davy Crockett hat.

Dr. Martens aren't cheap these days either, I paid £75 for my current pair.

I have to replace mine soon. They're about a dozen years old and the soles have lost too much traction. Maybe next month …
