I have one Damned boot, although I can't recall at the moment where/when it was recorded. I'll try to remember to pull out the CD tonight and find out that info for you.

I do recall that it's pretty good.

Got it last night. Its real bad. The quality is horrendous. Hard to tell what song is being played a lot of the time.

I guess my memory isn't as good as it once was...

Not only yours: during my first trip to London, I remember trying to swap one of the more common Damned boots out there (Roundhouse 7-7-77). The dealer stuck it in his deck, listened for about a minute, snapped it off and handed it back to me with a smile: "I forgot how bad the Damned actually were!"

That said, modskin, there is a lot of stuff floating around, of varying quality, as this link makes clear enough:

http://music4pleasure.blogspot.com/

My favorite Damned boot is a 45-minute Peel Session comp that a diehard collector made for me "back in the day"...there is an official Peel Session LP, but it's only got nine tracks, all from the '77 era. Here are the Sessions to watch for, and all of them are essential listening:

10/79: I'm So Bored (which goes into a feedback-riddled, hilarious takeoff on "Cars" at the end)/Smash It Up/I Just Can't Be Happy Today/Liar (which contains a drum solo, over which someone -- presumably, the Captain -- chants, "Stop -- this is -- bo-ring! Stop -- this is -- bo-ring!")

11/80: Curtain Call (10-minutes plus!)/Therapy/Hit Or Miss

8/6/84: We Love You/Is It A Dream/Horror Taxi (unreleased)/Thanks For The Night (unreleased)

My next favorite, which came from the same guy, is a 45-minute set from Berkeley Square, CA, 3/82, which leans heavily on Machine Gun Etiquette, with a smattering of lesser-played tracks (Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde, I Fell). Apparently, there's also a video in which Captain Sensible plays guitar naked on the encore -- I haven't seen it, but I'm told it's out there.

There's also a boot from the MCA Goth Era, taken from the video at Clutch Cargo's (Detroit, MI: 3/15/86) during the Phantasmagoria tour -- grungy as hell quality, but you pays your money and takes your choice, as they say. All this stuff shouldn't be hard to source, because I've seen it often enough myself -- as you can see, there's plenty of options. Happy hunting...

Does anyone have any SLF bootlegs from 81/82/83?

I've got Newcastle and Glasgow 83 and Edinburgh 82, but the cupboard is otherwise bare.
