Rare sock could've been worn by Joe Strummer who the fuck knows.
In reasonable condition for it's age and could do with a wash.

Hey, that doesn't look like a teddy boy day-glo sock.
Anyway, give it to Kosmo or Johnny to wash.

I think it's the sock immortalised in the Specials song "Sock It to 'em JB".
Or it could be part of The Great Sock n' Roll Swindle.

I've tracked down some info, it was worn by Joe on the "Combat Sock" tour.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

That is incorrect. The black stripes were 2.76 mm thinner and 14% lighter on the Combat Sock, and the stitching pattern was different. This is clearly the one he wore at the Mogador on the 23rd and 27th.

That sock was *not* worn by Joe. That is completely Mick trying to suck up to the MTV crowd. Those three stripes are a dead giveaway. Your prep school teachers won't tell you this, but those stripes just scream the kind of airy-fairy limp Steely Dan jazz that Mick wanted to turn the Clash into. If you think Combat Rock was bad, that sock is TRAC. If you want to know why Joe got rid of Mick and tried to get the band back to serious punk rock, that dirty sock is the smoking gun.

Sorry to argue, but this is the sock before Glyn Johns rewove his own parts into the woolen mix that had existed before.
