I don't mind some INXS stuff although Hutchense only wrote lyrics. He was a tortured soul poet and a bit of a twat.Heston wrote:Wouldn't expect anything else. Can't stand the bloke or his music.Chuck Mangione wrote:Pretty shitty song.

Re: My next project...
Yep I've heard that before but it doesn't fit with my comp as I only want stuff any Clash member played while they were still in The Clash. This track is much later. I'm still holding out for Teddy to give Short Back 'n' Sides a spin so I know exactly what Mick and Topper play on. It's hard to know.Chuck Mangione wrote:Here, let me show you:Chuck Mangione wrote:Just discovered this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hutchence_(album)

Marky - I can tell you with certainty that the only songs Topper plays on on 'Short Back & Sides' are:
"Central Park & West"
"Lisa Likes Rock & Roll"
"Noises"
"Leave Me Alone"
Further - those tracks (at least the basic rhythm tracks with Topper) were likely recorded at Wessex with either Bill Price or Jeremy Green engineering. That's THE sound they got for Topper during that period.
Btw - what of Ellen's 'Spirit of St. Louis' album? Listening to your wild and massive 'Sandinista!' re-master/re-imagining, I thought how apropos it would have been to include that album, maybe breaking it up within the context of the whole shebang.
Think about doing your magic on it,mate. I, personally, love the album. It's the TRUE lost Clash album - for better or worse. Anyone who doesn't get that is willfully oppositional or just doesn't like the Clash very much.

Re: My next project...
Maybe I'll remix the Ellen album at some point. But I don't agree those tracks belong with Sandinista! I think everything that's ever been released that's relevant to S! was included. That's really the point of this next project (if I ever finish it). Also I don't think The Clash would've got away with putting some of the Ellen tracks on S! even if they were full on Clash tracks. Songs like The Shuttered Palace might've fitted better with CR.muppet hi fi wrote:Bump.Marky Dread wrote: I'm still holding out for Teddy to give Short Back 'n' Sides a spin so I know exactly what Mick and Topper play on. I don't mind the Ellen album it's OK the best track is Torchlight.. But tracks from the Hunter album such as Cental Park n' West/Gun Control/Theatre of the Absurb (Brixton Power) are more Clash sounding to me.
Thanks for the info regards Short Back n' Sides and Toppers playing. I really need info regarding who plays what on the outtakes. I expect it will simpler to just remix the Hunter project separately. I'm sure Mick would love to go back and remix that one. Mick's ideas on that album are really inventive however he probably had too much of a free rein with respect. It really is surprising considering just how much of an established artist Ian was/is.

I'd suggest just remix the whole Short Back 'n' Sides album. That's my favorite Ian Hunter album. Theatre of the Absurd has a bit of the Sandinista sound. I know he's released a more inclusive version (Longs odds and Outtakes) but it would interesting to hear your retake.
Re: My next project...
I was wondering if this project was ever completed?
It is a very in depth project with a lot of interesting music that I didn't know the Clash (or band members) played on.
I can't find a digital copy of Pearl Harbour's Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Too album and was hoping this project was completed.
