The Job Search Woes Thread

I just need a place to whine and motivate. What better place than a public forum. :shifty:

Everyone welcome. Let's make it a party.

My woe is this: I have decided that, despite being a feminist, I would like to be a lady of leisure. Sure, I will do some "volunteer work" (i.e. lend my name to a gala committee), but otherwise, I will dedicate my life to going to Pilates in the morning and coffee klatches in the afternoon. The only problem is that I can't afford to do this.
Got a Rake? Sure!

I have been there and it is a Purgatory. What kind of work are you looking for?

One that pays.

I'd like to get back into IT but my skills are dated.

Consider creatively bullshitting. Sadly honestly rarely gets you ahead.

I'm beginning to see that about the honesty.

It would be if I didn't have to worry about money. :)

Is there a short continuing ed class you could take to brush up on your skills?

I was working as a stay-at-home dad, but thanks to our insurance not covering my son's autism therapies, I'm deep in the hunt for a job with good pay/insurance and that isn't happening. Ugh.

Heh. Career Opportunities just came on. No kidding.

Rarely do I call for rounding any group up for hanging but I would do so for insurance executives.*

*Total bullshit, I constantly call for mass hangings.

And yes, there are not enough lampposts for the insurance industry.

It still boggles my mind that we live in a country where a devastating illness or other diagnosis that is not one's fault can completely bankrupt a person. If my parents didn't help us out when Scott got sick, we would have been screwed.

That's why I want to hang the lamppost people.
