The only book that matters
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .
— Morton Feldman

I've studied the phenomenon of neo-provincialism in self-isolating online communities but this place takes the fucking cake.

He's going to use an unreadable font on every page, I just know it.

Incredible cover art.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead

God, I really didn't think he'd match his website style THAT closely.

I hope there is some level of cohesiveness to his book. His website is basically gibberish to me.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Your second sentence probably answers your first. The idea that he's going to pull it all together would be one lucky blind squirrel.

As soon as I saw the cover, I thought it was a joke by an IMCT'er. This is real?

It really does look like a lazy publish-on-demand piece of crap, no? And yet I'll probably have to buy it. :disshame:

I might get it if it ends up at Half Price Books due to publisher overstock *and* it’s 50% off coupon Sunday.

Mark, with whom I worked with on WE ARE THE CLASH, has already ordered a copy -- so I'll just wait for him to weigh in on whether it's worthwhile. It really depends on the approach -- if we get full scans of all those flyers, posters and T-shirts in living color, that's one thing. If it ends up copping the eye-straining BR website, then...not so much. Time will tell.

Are you kidding?

That's like $50 'Merrican.

That's some chutzpah, Bernie.

I'll wait to get the feedback on this one. As tempting as it would be for the cover alone and have a physical manifestation of his website, it's expensive for something that is largely nonsensical.

Cover looks like it was bashed out on Print Shop circa 1992. Maybe production was outsourced to some cut rate German studio...
