What a wonderful doc, the live footage of Dave and ray is incredible, wish that would surface. Ray did not seem well, you would think he was the one who had the stroke and not Dave who happened to be sharper than I've seen him in years.

Yep it was great. They do look really old now. I hope if they are considering getting something together it's sooner than later. I also felt Ray seemed a little slower than usual. I wish them all well they are true legends to me and Ray is the finest songwriter this country has ever produced and I don't say that lightly.

I think Ray has had a bit of "work" done, his face seemed frozen.

Yes that would definitely explain it.

The "Echoes of a World" doc is now on YouTube for anyone who missed the original (now dead) link...

Watching Echoes again right now, just brilliant. I want to see the unreleased footage of Ray and Dave from 94 doing songs from VGPS, I also want a better live document than Kelvin Hall, something from 68 without all the screaming.

All the stories have been told
Of kings and days of old,
But there's no england now.
All the wars that were won and lost
Somehow don't seem to matter very much anymore.
All the lies we were told,
All the lies of the people running round,
They're castles have burned.
Now i see change,
But inside we're the same as we ever were.
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Living this way, each day is a dream.
What am i, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Now another century nearly gone,
What are we gonna leave for the young?
What we couldn't do, what we wouldn't do,
It's a crime, but does it matter?
Does it matter much, does it matter much to you?
Does it ever really matter?
Yes, it really, really matters.
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Now another leader says
Break their hearts and break some heads.
Is there nothing we can say or do?
Blame the future on the past,
Always lost in blood and guts.
And when they're gone, it's me and you.
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line,
Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line.

Listened to State of Confusion today. This is a really GREAT track. Production is a little bit 80's - but not over the top and it works well with Ray's weary, resigned delivery on the vocals.

Looks like there is some very nice stuff to be had on this box!!

This is probably the Kinks album I listen to the most. It's damned near perfect (in my opinion).

I wonder if this means we'll get a 50th anniversary set of Lola next year?

Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere...but late period Kinks member Ian Gibbons passed away on Thursday. He was in the band between 1979 and 1989.

Another reminder that all of these guys are getting older and that I hope Ray's talk of a reunion with Dave and Mick was more than just talk. Would also be cool if they included John Dalton - who was not an original member - but his connection started pretty early on (1966).

"...and his children wanna be plastic like their Dad"

Such a great character satire from Ray and the "plastic" subject matter rings even more true now.
